It's been on custom firmware for many years now, OP. Meaning you can pirate games on it.

I know some versions allowed you to play online, but I don't know what the current state of the CFW is right now. Maybe it's playable online, maybe not.

It's going to be a pain in the ass preserving PS3 games.

With all old consoles you had the whole game when you had the iso but everything has a day 1 patch to function semi correctly these days.

I'm assuming we will end up with a system like the original Xbox where you use a special loader to patch the iso. But those patches on that console really only effected multiplayer balance so its not a big issue. It will be this time though.
