I can answer this question.
It all started three days ago, you can check the archives. First, it started as a thread where I noticed that, especially in tf2 threads, people missed the party van (even after being the servers still online). Then I asked in a strawpoll if I should revive the party van starting from scratch, starting with my own server giving details of it before doing anything. After "Yes" won overwhelmingly, i made another strawpoll the game and gamemode I should host, ranging from tf2, to garry's mod or sven coop, winning TF2 custom maps/free for all, and veing casual tf2 the second most voted option.
Remember when I said that the main objetive is starting from scratch? Since three days ago every single element you see in the server was voted, suggested and discussed by anons in threads, polls and in-game, even the trash maps that some of you say in the latest threads.
We are not trying to copy or use names, but starting it from the scratch because the old one is abandoned. Operative but avandoned, the staff is inactive. Still, I see all of this a win/win, if people like the server, even tho there is MUCH to do, especially for americans, they will receive constant support from here (from not much longer in /v/ as we will have to move to /vg/ even if people don't like it; we can't have constant threads about this in this board and we will respect the rules) and having their own servers.
If people in the end don't like it, this will encourage people to join the original party van server and hopefully, revive it from the inactivity. I might continue in other post.

This issue has been mentioned quite a lot of times before. The reason we allow all kinds of micspam -and it might get reversed- is because people complained in the first day that I was too hard muting micspammers. Since then we enabled all kinds of micspam that don't damage the connection of the server (we had an incident with that) and if anyone don't want to hear a micspammer, you can mute them individually in the mute menu, in the main menu pressing ESC.

Ok so I just found out about this new server. I use to go on the 4chan Partyvan back in the days between 2006-2011 when it was a CSS server and then opened up a TF2 server with Orange Box in 07.

I'm sure some in this thread or passerby's know who I am if you went to the Fuhrer Mike's Partyvan back in the day or you go to Weeabootique ect.

Couple of things I should chime in with:

>Complaints about Saysounds

There's nothing wrong with saysounds as long as the sounds don't overlap or cancel out the music being played by someone. 10 years ago saysounds were around 1-3 seconds long, loud enough to be heard but not loud enough to overlap music, only could be played 5 times or so per round per person. That's an ideal standard so people don't abuse it to death and that's the problem Partyvan started to have by 2010 which were very long saysounds that were extremely loud, long (up to 10 seconds or more ), caused buffer problems, and that people could spam them unlimited. So yeah, consider saysounds but just put a cap on them.

>Gimmick maps

Gimmick is fine but so is stock maps. I know many can't stand stock anymore due to the new search functionalities and matchmaking being nothing but stock over and over. Always pick quality over quantity. Gimmick maps with objectives rather then trade maps. I rather prefer Wacky Races and Balloon Race to some Minecraft map with no objective.

This is going to cause some ire because you're definitely trying to make a mark by copying the name. Choose something else. Back in 07 we had various 4chan servers such as 4chan AIDS POOL. Do do something like that rather then just use the Party Vans. I'll be honest I got confused when I got messages from others about this on Steam until I noticed the fact that the server has a password while the original Party Van doesn't. I don't know if I'll be playing on this server, I'll try it out here and there, but if anything else just use a different name.
