You have terrible taste if you think those are comparably nearly as bad as a game that had the troubled development that Sonic 06 had.

Sonic 06 is the exact opposite of fun, while Sonic Boom WiiU is just a mediocre plateformer.

You could have fun with Sonic 06 because it is similar to the adventure games and can have a nostalgia effect, but that's the only reason.

There's something resembling a game deep under Sonic '06, and given another year or two in design it could have been a mediocre game.

It's by far the worst Sonic game in the entire series and one of the worst games of all time.

It's definitely worse than the vast majority of Sonic games. However it's also specifically that much worse for only Sonic fans, who can be aware of the minute ways it's bad.

For an outsider it's actually a bit better, I think. They then incorporate into their thinking what the fans say, fanning the flames a bit higher than they should. Because 06 does have redeeming qualities, namely the soundtrack (to a degree), FMV cutscenes, Shadow story, Blaze and Omega gameplay (to a degree), Sonic's gems, Egg Genesis, Eggman's Emerald radar glasses and Shadow kicking Silver in the back of the head. None of these help a fan much at all, but a non-fan will easily just say that everything about 06 is shit instead. Hence controversy.

It most definitely is. It was also an anniversary game and Sonic Team's attempt to reboot the franchise which makes it an even greater offender.

06 was supposed to be this amazing anniversary game, but the result was an unfinished, unrefined mess. It looks like ass, plays like ass, and is probably written by an ass. It's absolutely shameful that Sega allowed it to be released, considering that Sonic is their big mascot character.

And to make matters worse: nobody will ever allow Sega to live it down. The new Sonic game has characters other than Sonic? That's the next 06. The new Sonic game has a plot other than "Sonic stop the Eggsman"? That's the next 06. Sega has no idea what people want because everyone is high off of memes.
