I played this game for the first time recently. The only way to progress is to shoot every single block with every single weapon you have. Boring. There's that one part after Ridley I think where you can only progress by shooting one particular block with a super missile or something. Bad game. Nostalgia.

The Super Bomb reveals blocks, you dumb ass. You learn that several times. They intentionally put non-superbomb blocks near spots you need to superbomb to show you that.
The super bomb is meant to be a revealing tool. And if you somehow can't think "Oh, well, lemme see if theres anything in this room for me to reveal" when trying to play the game casually, then ADVENTURE games probably aren't for you, if you need everything spelled out for you to be able to advance...

The thing is, regular bombs also do that same reveal.
And you go through the tube multiple times before you even acquire super bombs, so odds are you already laid a regular bomb in there and it revealed jack shit so you moved on.
