Maybe if your water power allows you to control temperature too that would make sense. That's a good idea for making it a little more useful in a fantasy setting.

This is a great point. I don't understand why people bring modern physics into fantasy settings. It's actually highly uncreative and uninteresting. Better to use some variation of Aristotelian physics or something even more unique and actually think through some of the implications of the ideas that you just put out there.

For example Elder Scrolls has people splitting atoms with advanced sword techniques, which comes off as just edgy and out of place, even with the other weird shit you find in that setting. Why should there be atoms at all? Democritus can go fuck himself.
>>
>>383263098
Water as an elemental power could go a few ways.

>Summon a shitton of water
>Crush enemies under a tidal wave since 1 litre weighs 1kg

>Encase enemies in a bubble of water and drown them

>Impact of high pressure water blasts enemies into walls, off cliffs etc

>Control the water within an organism and cause it to boil or move apart
>>
>>383272282
>guns don't kill people bullets do
>>
>>383273247
And the ground is being held together by....?
That's right, gravity.

If it wasn't for gravity, the "ground" would be a floating pile of dust and wouldn't be able to kill anyone.
Gravity always wins. Always.

Final Fantasy VII. There are a variety of Water-element spells and abilities, and very few monsters have any kind of resistance to them. There are also a handful of monsters that are weak to Water, and one Summon (Leviathan) that deals Water damage.

Eh, debatable. I mean, you can technically lose to Palmer by doing nothing. If you have the Water Ring equipped (which you get right before Jenova LIFE), you literally can stand there, and she can't kill you. All of her attacks are Water-based, so she can't kill the character with the Water Ring, and she'll eventually run out of MP, and stop attacking entirely.

Palmer was designed to be a joke boss. Jenova LIFE was designed to be beaten on the first try so you wouldn't have to see Aerith die twice.

Why do planes that crash in the water suffer extensive damage?

You could also do the same with Elemental+Ice on armor if you've used Elemental materia up to that point. But of course the most fun way to do it is just Enemy Skill -> Magic Hammer with two characters so she runs out of mana before casting anything and won't do anything for the rest of the fight.

Elemental+Ice wouldn't do anything. Her attacks are Water based, not Ice based. Theoretically, you could have Leviathan by that point and stick that with Elemental for a Water immunity.

Shit like this is why I'm glad I live in Florida, where it's flat as fuck. Yeah we get floods but I'm pretty sure it's nothing like this.

Yeah, it's just that Water doesn't get nearly as much play as Ice, so it's overlooked.

But fire is temperature. Which is cause by... oh. Right. Statistically, it is kinetic energy.

Wish more games implemented Avatar:The Last Airbender's approach on the classical elements. Shit like Bloodbending and sucking the air out of someone's lungs is baller as fuck.
