It STARTED pretty poorly. It got better as it went on, but the run should never have been attempted at a marathon. If it were any other point they could've just kept resetting the run until they hit the right trainer ID, but because it was a marathon they had to count what was effectively multiple resets and then just give up anyways, leading to a screwed up run.

Zack is the bad ass soldier Cloud THINKS he was. The buster sword was given to Cloud as Zack died. Cloud realizes he is a fraud, but then gets shown a memory where he did whoop Sephiroth's ass one time and feels better.

It's an ancient (a powerful race that were in the earth before the humans) which for some reason a doctor took into a laboratory.

This doctor take some cells, combine with a human baby or something like that and Sephiroth it's born.

Sephiroth didn't know this until he reach nibelheim, so after he read all the books about it, goes crazy, withdraw Jenova from that laboratory and start to leave fragments so cloud can have fun with his sword.
