what's the biggest mindfuck in vidya you ever experienced /v/
That one was good too.
>>383236438
You're not supposed to start the thread with the best example, OP
ascend to my elevation
>>383236438
Yeah you fucked the thread up this is already the best mindfuck game possible OP.
>>383237002
This one was also good
Yeah I don't have anything left because I would've posted 999 and have nothing better.
The one whereJinguuji-sensei was seen eating with another man.
>>383237503
>>383237253
VLR's twist is better, though.
>>383237560
VLR retroactively ruined 999 for me. It was terrible. Most twists were also easily guessed because they got hinted at too much throughout the games and the ones you didn't guess were underwhelming or plainly retarded.
This whole game
>>383237797
sure kiddo
The second half of Xenoblade
>>383237797
I thought 999's twist was more retarded than anything in VLR
>>383237560
VLR is to 999 what ZTD is to VLR. You probably played VLR first which is why you think it's better (it's really not)
>>383236438
Infinity Trilogy
dark corners of the earth was pretty rad.
>>383238047
Not games. Which is why 999 is still the best one. I agree with you though on it being more mindfuck.
>>383237797
I loved how VLR used the gameplay mechanic of jumping around the plot map as a story element.
While 999 had a more oppressive atmosphere, the AB game made me more tense than anything in these games. Even though you know you can just reset, the short time between making a decision and seeing what others did was exciting as fuck.
I also appreciate that VLR goes balls deep sci-fi earlier on.
I love 999 but I think the tone ran away with itself in the end.
>>383238001
What kind of retard would play VLR first? I don't think VLR is better either, I just said that the twist was better. There's more to the games than the twists.
>>383238162
>implying the piss easy puzzles even count as gameplay
they were merely excuses for wikipedia article discussion and sicc ass puns
>>383238453
A lot of people didn't know it was a sequel. Also 999 didn't release in EU while VLR did.
>>383238531
>A lot of people didn't know it was a sequel.
You would have to be retarded or do absolutely no research into games before playing them (aka retarded) to not know it was a sequel.
>>383238001
I played 999, VLR, and ZTD all in the same week in order.
VLR > 999 >>>>>>> ZTD is definitely the correct ranking
>>383236438
I'll give ya a mindfuck
>>383238770
thats not how you into 5
>>383236438
>No one said pic related and how many people got confused/scared as fuck
>>383239580
That one was a post-mortem mindfuck. It only got mindfucky the more time went by since you finished the game and you began to see real life examples. But while playing the game itself it felt underwhelming and like a schizophrenic word salad.
>>383236438
bioshock infinite
>>383239989
>>383239705
that's what makes it even better though. MGS2 is even more relevant today than it was then

Ever17 desu.
>>383242702
1: Not a game
2: 999 is an improvement on Ever17 in every aspect
>999 has better music
>999 has better atmosphere
>999 has better art
>999 has better pacing
>999 has better character progression
>999 doesn't have a cringy slice of life dating sim VN feel
>>383242837
>not wanting to kick the can
Fucking casuals.
I was considering buying ZTD this sale but I skipped out on it. Did I dodge a bullet? I really liked 999 and VLR but ZTD just rubs me the wrong way and from what I hear it's not a good conclusion to the series. Is this true?
>>383243071
playing ZTD is like watching your waifu get raped.
Sure most people hate it but there is a small section of cucks that might like it.
Avoid it if you are a normal person.
Not my favorite but Airy lies was cool
>>383242837
>in every aspect
Ever17 has the better OP song I would say.

Also 999 relied heavily on the DS to make the twist have more impact. On the PC version (recently replayed it) it is quite reduced and I would say Ever17 beats it. The pacing is still god awful though.
>>383244027
>999 relied heavily on the DS to make the twist have more impact
That is a fucking brilliant moment though and I hate that 999 got remade for exactly this reason. The game was made for that piece of hardware and shouldn't be viewed separately from it.
I always have to be the one to post it
>>383244027
I actually prefer 999s OP until the guitar solo.
i hope i wasnt the only one. this completly fucked up my mind when i was playing this as a kid.
>be me,love playing golden sun,my favourite game as a kid
>starting to play golden sun 2 as soon as it comes out
>starting to play as felix, one of the bad guys from golden sun 1.
>ThisIsFuckingWeirdButCool.jpg
>while playing the game you realize more and more that you are actually doing the right thing as the "villain"
>and you were actually the bad one in Golden Sun 1
am i the only one?
>>383236438
This was a mindfuck in the fact that you were trying to save the day while your friend was on an operating table with his chest open as the doctors try to keep him alive by hand.
Ten year old me was sweating.
>>383238069
damn nature!
Remember11 had the best twists, plebeians.
>>383236438
It's the last mindfuck that still blows my mind when I think about all the little things that made it so special.
You are Revan
>>383246071
Yes but it's not a game.
Also don't talk about Remember11. I want this gem to stay unknown by the plebs on /v/.
>The Narrator is replaced by a lying impostor while you're busy naming your character
>Fabricates a false cutscene to turn you against the real hero of the story
>>383246138
Yes 100% this.
>TFW you'll never experience a story on par with the quality of 999 ever again.
Pillars of eternity, I somehow avoided the spoilers while that game was still popular.
>>383237560
>VLR's twist
Which one? There's like 30.
>>383246245
Ever 17?
>No Jim, you are the cat
Still one of the best twists in any kind of media.
>>383246862
The only one that got me wasyou are old as fuck
>>383236438
Psycho mantis . Freaked me out as a kid
>>383248857
Nope. You just didn't play enough other games like it. Hell even Undertale was more mindblowing than that.
