Alright, let's make a bet. Is Grimoire releasing within the next 24 hours?
>>
No. He's an incompetent liar and he's gonna keep trying to string people along for the rest of his life.

Missing a release date isn't fraud. Never releasing an announced game also isn't fraud.

But false accusation is an actual crime.
>>
I can't believe the motherfucker actually managed to fool me twice. He fooled me with the Indiegogo campaign (IT'S COMING OUT ON MARCH, REGARDLESS OF HOW WELL FUNDED IT IS, LOOK AT THIS SUPER-DEMO) and he fooled me now with this steam release shit. He had an official page and everything.

And this was after me knowing that he had been delaying his game over and over and over and over again for 20 fucking years. I'm a moron. Why the fuck did I believe him?

>>
Some of you are very mistaken on how Steam works. They don't just let the dude have a store page if they never saw a product themselves.

The developer definitely, at some point, uploaded something a file to Steam and had them test it out (for viruses and shit like that)

They wouldn't let him put the date this close if they didn't get that far.
>>
>>383228185
>>383228182
Yeah it was under legal. Then I explained it's not good customer service to lie about game. Steam should take better care of actually making sure the product exists. But I'm sure Valve will contact him in few days and the store page will be removed. Just report it just in case.

I'm butt-blasted even if I didn't wait for the game.

There's no market in pandering to morons. I wouldn't want to make that kind of money.

Grimoire is an elite game that is unlike anything else up on the Steam store. I defy you to find anything like it in the thousands of games listed. I defy you to find a game like it on the planet. It's not even a Wizardry clone really - it's everything Wizardry should have been but never was.

I'm not competing with Sir-Tech any more. Amongst other reasons, they went bankrupt 17 years ago.

I'm not competing with anybody. Grimoire is the pinnacle of the peak of the summit of the incline. I could probably get 99.95 from a lot of people but I don't want to limit it just to the very elect of RPG players. I made a compromise and and priced it somewhere just under current AAA titles. The truth is there is not an AAA title you could buy nowadays that deserves to crawl up on a high chair and plant a kiss in the crack of Grimoire's ass when it comes to enjoyment, immersion and wonderful escape.

I say all this with confidence because I have been playing my game 12 hours a day for two months and I can assure you there has never been anything like it in all of recorded human history. It's the greatest thing ever to emerge from that genre. The fact is, people who enjoy that genre are considering it cheap at that price. If you are not a connoisseur of the genre then why would I amend anything in it to appeal to you? It's like saying Mozart needed more cowbell.

Trust what I am saying. Those of you who played the demo and got the scent of greatness will know the full game has achieved it. For whatever it lacks it has much more in abundance.

I was just playing Kublai Cathedral to check all the logic and was almost weeping tears of joy at how wonderfully told the story of everything is in the game. I had forgotten a lot of it and it was like reading the work of someone else.
>>
This game is honestly surreal to me. How the fuck does he take 23 years to make this?

Isn't Legend Of Grimrock the exact same, and way better, and made in way less time with a sequel and costs less?
>>
>>383229087

>tfw too sape to understand the game
>>
>>383229125
In many ways, Legend of Grimrock is not as ambitious as Grimoire is.

But no, there is absolutely no excuse for this game taking 23 years to get made, especially considering the fact it still looks like a product of its STARTING age.
>>
>>383229125
It only took him a couple years to actually make the game, anyone who played the early beta can attest to this. He's just been spending all the years since then hand wringing over pointless shit.
>>
Can someone post the logs from his website when he was promising people that the game would come out in 98? I saw them in another Grimoire thread in here but couldn't find them.

Or just overall moments of him lying and promising a release date that didn't happen.

REDPILL ON NEANDERTHALS
>They were here before you Dr. Zaius ... and they were better than you. They were the original Adamic people and they were genocided, gangraped and cannibalized by Homo Sapiens ancestors. They are the only thing standing between Sapiens and the animals. No other race has shown so much evidence of being blessed with God's commandments in their hearts. No other race has so resembled Abel. Nor has any other race than Sapiens so resembled Cain. If you think you know what a Neanderthal is and you have been told the truth by your "scientists," ask yourself why they never told you that nearly all Neanderthal skulls have been found with herding whistles called "hyrules" in their mouths when they were killed ... and why were you never told that the campfires of Cro-Magnons are always filled with the bones of Neanderthals? They knew both of these things one hundred years ago and did not omit these details by accident. Go down to this page on the left side (link reposted below -Anon) and see "Everything you know is wrong," what has been the top link for years. Ask yourself how many other links there are correct?

What you should know about Cleve and what he thinks of the world
>Asperger's is not a disease. Sapes (how he calls homo sapiens) have an instinctive fear of neanderthals (According to him, this is because thals carried flesh-eating bacteria that while harmless to them, would kill a sape in hours). Not knowing the root of this fear, sapes assume that neanderthals like him have a mental disorder called "Asperger's syndrome"
>Humans are the result of aliens doing genetic experiments, and the homo sapiens is 'that failed experiment that made ayy lmaos give up'
>Germ theory is a fraud (yes, i know this contradicts his point about flesh-eating staphyloccocii), Evolution is also a fraud
>Thinks the bible is some sort of anthropology manual that speaks about neanderthals (because of course he is going to shove that into everything)
>Claims to have an IQ of 184, still took him 30 years to release a mod for Stones of Arheim
>Has a bunker in case of societal collapse
>Accuses developers at Sir-tech of being pedophiles
>His nipples resemble misshapen pepperoni
>>
>>383229704
>some tweaking
That's what's been taking Cleve 23 years.
>>
>>383229704
You mean the demo from 2013
>>
>>383229704
People have come out saying they played a "beta" in the late 90s that seemed to be a complete game. He made a 60 hour "demo" in 2013, again seemingly a complete game. He's got aspergers and let the feature creep get to him. For the last 20 years he's been a few weeks from release, but always manages to find something new to tweak, add or fix. It's likely never coming out.

From those 15k dollars he managed to get, he's been steadily losing a bunch of them as the years went by, with people being sick of his false promises and delays after delays

And he kept telling them that they would regret it. That they would regret missing the great big physical edition that would be worth TRILLIONS OF DOLLARS in the future. How they would see the others who stood up to the end and believed in him finally get what they patiently and dutifully waited for.

Uh, pretty sure "hour" is a conserved metric for time. As in it's 60 minutes, or 3600 seconds.

Now "day" or "year" can consist of a different number of hours, as the former describes the period of a planet rotating on its axis and the latter describes the period of a planet revolving around the sun.

So 24 Venus hours is the same as 24 Earth hours.

All they did was make the inventory more of a hassle to work with. Instead of having a nice and simple common inventory, they went full retard and had each item variety get its own inventory per character, so every time you want to sell your stuff you have to shift through 30 different inventories.
>larger world
Only because it is two separate games. Not like the second part is worth playing, anyways. No more teleporting, power creep everywhere and the best possible loot is thrown at you like candy. Progression goes to a standstill, especially since there is diminishing returns from your already attribute-bloated characters. The only thing left to do is grind for gold to keep up or just spam implosion. Xeen barely changed the formula that Terra perfected, and that which it changed only served to create a cluttered experience. Outside of meaningless things such as graphics, Xeen did nothing noteworthy.

Just going to throw this out there, game kind of looks like shit.

Like a poorly rendered version of Grimrock.

I mean, looks aren't everything though, Dwarf Fortress is literally ASCII art and it's provided some of the most enjoyable experiences I've had to date. Just the gameplay in Dwarf Fortress is fucking DEEP, what I saw from the brief 2013 demo thing or whatever was not that awe inspiring.

Of course it is. He is Australian. It is in his nature to be deceptive and cruel. Everything he does is blatantly fake and hints towards his lies, but so many fall for his tricks. Even his logo is just a reference to "when pigs fly", as if it wasn't obvious enough. He makes up bullshit about having a son, about having a wife, and yet people somehow believe that this game itself isn't just another little lie, the few little videos and the demo showing off all the content he has ever made.

There are plenty of people from reputable sources that claim they played the game and have knowledge to back it up. People that played a beta from 98 that had plenty of content. The super-demo itself is full of shit (not just from the demo content, which is already ridiculously huge, but from traces of the full game that has been data-mined)

The game exists. He just doesn't want to release it. I suspect it's cause he knows that the shit he has been working on for 23 years is shit by today's standards and would have been way below mediocrity even if it were released 20 years ago, and it has only gotten worse with each new alteration and addition he made.

so this is all about the attention he gets from this whole thing and doesnt even have anything to do with the actual game
>>
>>383233549
I think you underestimate the impact of this. If the field exists, the game has to check the field on load and run the game in that version.
>You may not see new additions to the map but your current game will always be completable after you have started it.
This means making the game behave differently depending on whatever version is present in that save field.

This can go wrong in many many many ways and not something you just add in the last 24 hours.

>Wait, so this thread is for people anticipating the game's failure?
How can it fail if it's never going to get released?

>Is he taking the piss or is he actually this deluded?
Who knows?

Personally I think it's a bit of both. I think he genuinely believes that his life's work is an absolute masterpiece, the pinnacle of what video games can be. But I seriously believe there's also a secret part of him that knows his game was shit 20 years ago and is even more shit today, but he's too far in to admit that. So he just keeps tweaking and polishing it in a desperate attempt to "fix" it (even though it's far beyond fixing on that level) and his claims of how great the game are, are just an attempt to save face and keep from admitting that he wasted 25 years of his life.

I mean, can you even imagine spending that much time on a single pursuit? This game has been in development longer than most people on /v/ have been alive. That's a fucking lifetime of delusion, and when you're in that deep it becomes impossible to just let go, so he just keeps building it up like some sort of digital Tower of Babel.
>>

“Undoubtedly, Grimoire shall be released on the Xth of X.”

But with most of the major bugs remedied, Dad has informed me he plans to introduce Grimoire to Steam Greenlight on the *1st of May*. Regardless of when the game is actually released, the current state of the game appears highly-polished and acceptable for market. There seems to be two major things left that need to be addressed:

Projectiles not rendering correctly

Gaps in NPC dialogue/knowledge

Dad’s been having difficulty for a while now getting the projectiles to look right. The code he originally wrote for them is more than a decade old, and his younger self used a magic number system that is unfamiliar and nonsensical to him now. Once again, Cleve’s greatest enemy is Cleve.

I'm asperger and I have spent the last couple days reading the thread on codex. It's fucking painful, because most of his perfectionism shit and mad ramblings made me remember the kind of person I was some years ago until I got better, I was a retarded perfectionist, and had a HUGE anxiety problem.
It took ages to finish whatever I worked with, because I always thought there was always something wrong with it. I also used to think most of my jokes were amusing, when they were obviously fucking retarded.

This guy is a 50+ year old dude, but still, he managed to cancel the a 20+ yo game AGAIN in the last minute, and write one of the most unprofessional and cringy posts I've seen from a developer in steam to justify he's "just fixing the save system", what the fucking fuck.

The game is also fucked because he coded it to work in the 90's computers, and apparently he is still doing it. Wonder how the hell he is making it work on windows 8.

Dev is retarded and can't finish the game after 20+ years.
It's painfully obvious he can't program shit and apparently the entire game was made for DOS, he's doing some voodoo to make it work on a modern OS. Game also plays like a 20+ wizardry and has a lot of non-intuitive shit.

He probably would have a stroke if he had to work in any game for a modern console. Any shitty indie dev out of college from nowadays would probably be able to code a retro game like that in a week.

All bets are open on which stats are completely worthless.
My expectations:
Destiny does nothing.
Either wisdom and willpower won't be worth putting points into.
Devotion isn't worth the points even for Clerics.
Also I would imagine Fel stands for fellowship (charisma) so bards and jesters might use it but it's still worthless.

Cleve's story about spilling his spaghetti during the LA Riots is one of the most gripping tales I have ever read:
>I turned and ran back to the house. An alleyway I had passed less than three minutes ago, to the immediate left of the front our house, had been empty. There were now three black guys standing right outside our chain link fence, one of them trying to light the wick on a beer bottle while another held a bottle of kerosene. It so took me by surprise I almost fell trying to come to a halt.

>I reached for the Desert Eagle, hands shaking, and pulled the gun out. I had never pointed a gun at another human being in my life. "HEY!!!!!" I yelled, "WHAT IN THE HELL ARE YOU DOING?!?! DROP THAT BOTTLE!! GET YOUR HANDS UP IN THE AIR!!!"

>The three black guys were hard, crusty looking types, all of them dressed in filthy clothing and matted down with dirt. One of them with a big set of dreadlocks spoke before anybody else. "White boy, you must be tripping. Don't even think about pointing that gun at me." The other two nodded at their friend, apparently the leader, but they had frozen irregardless.

>"THIS IS A CITIZENS ARREST! GET YOUR HANDS UP!" I yelled, chambered a round in the gun and pointed it at the guy with dreadlocks. "DROP EVERYTHING AND PUT YOUR HANDS UP!" I screamed in the scariest voice I could come up with. I sounded sort of hoarse from all the smoke in the air.

>"Sissy bitch, whatchoo think you are? We ain't dun nuttin, not a damn thing! You can't arrest nobody, you punk arse little white boy!" the dreadlocks guy said, but they all dropped everything on the ground. The beer bottle broke and I caught the odor of kerosene immediately from the contents that poured out.

>I stared at the liquid as it ran across the floor of the alleyway. I could not believe it. These guys were getting ready to burn us. Of course, we were a corner house with a blind alleyway running alongside us. Our house was the perfect candidate to burn, just like all the other corner houses we had seen on television. Nothing personal, you understand, these guys were getting ready to torch our house because it was conveniently located for just that purpose.

>I felt weird all of a sudden. Really weird. The gun wavered. "Okay, nobody ... nobody move," I said, feeling my gorge rising. The three black guys were watching me like a hawk.

>With complete astonishment, I vomited a huge mouthful of foul smelling water up into the air, soaking my shirt sleeve. One of the black guys chuckled in amusement. I was trying to keep the gun trained on them and suddenly I was vomiting profusely, gouts of greasy dark water into the air. Nothing like that had ever, ever happened to me before. I think the sheer amount of black tea, coca-cola and coffee I had drunk to stay awake had rubbed my stomach lining raw.

>"Don't you f**king move, asshole! I will put a bullet in your ass, I promise you," I said, but I was bent over and fell to my knees as soon as I finished the sentence, dry heaves racking me. I was trying to keep the gun pointed at them and vomit at the same time ... they were already backing away down towards the alley from where they had come. They were all giggling and uttering little expressions of awe at their good luck. I tried to keep the gun on them but they knew I wasn't going to shoot them, they hopped backwards until they were well down the alley and then took off running while guffawing at the spectacle of me dry retching with the Desert Eagle in my hand.

Ackshully he just sat their vomiting and they ran away. In the next chapter he takes on Mexicans:
>I got the pump action Remington riot shotgun out from behind the water heater. I had bought it three months earlier unbeknownst to my wife, never fired it, along with two boxes of shells. My wife's eyes went wide when I pulled it out and started pushing shells into the breech. "I hope you are not thinking of going outside with that," she said, "because I will divorce you if you do." I said to her, "Honey, if you're ever back this way again, be sure to look me up."

>When I got to the front door, my nerves failed. I peered through the curtains. A lot of Mexicans were out in the street. I knew if I stayed here too long I would talk myself out of going out. I just had to do it irregardless of how scared I was. They could not be allowed to just take over the block and sit on cars like that.

No automap, more frequent bullshit moments where you're instawiped, a -ton- of rerolling required for creating your party and a generally tough start. Difficulty starts high, dips then spikes again instead of ramping up over time. If you don't build your party properly you can barely handle the first couple of battles. That plus getting lost a ton.

7 is a good place to start. It's not as good in terms of gameplay as 8, but is easier and the pixel art has more charm than the horrifying 3D and "realistic" portraits of 8.

Tale of the forsaken land is also a good place to start but is 100% fantasy where as 6/7/8 try adding some shitty sci-fi aspects.

6 was made for vets, it's not a good place at all to start but is a great game and to get certain items in 7/8, you need to have carried them over from 6.

1/2/3/5 are all direct sequels to one another and have a different story than 6/7/8. They aren't bad but they are noticeably aged in terms of gameplay.

Don't play 4, don't do it to yourself. It's impossible to start with and most vets will never touch it. Also, never play the JP Mobile games, they are complete shit, Stranger of Sword City, Dark Spire or Etrian Odyssey are better than them.

>cleve still needs to make savestates games patch ready

Yeah that shit's gonna take another month.

This is stuff that should go hand in hand with designing the underlying data model and setting default values for saved variables.

If he just has to add default values, then it might go a little faster, but if he actually needs to refactor or add ANYTHING (which is always in the realm of possibilities) this is gonna break some shit and delay the release again.

I can give you my word as a CS graduate on that shit.

>hurrrr just another micro issue

The only thing that's micro here is cleves penis. Otherwise such an incompetent fucker wouldn't have to boast about his abilities all the time, while failing to deliver so hard.

Compared to TToN? No, not at all. W2 is janky, sure, but it's far better than anything in Numenera. And PoE is very polished, even compared to the old nostalgiabait titles it's based on.
