I believe Atari sold all their games and another company bought up almost all their licenses and have just rebranded themselves as Atari. Which is pretty genius.

First few generations had to deal with very limited pixel-art, but around the time of Mario I think is a good contendor given it's now the classical style for video games. Early 3D going into the Ps1 era has NOT aged well. PS2 fared better, but still has some flaws. 360 and PS3 era one could make a case for, but the real is brown era drags it back. I'd argue it's the current era, and not so much for graphics, but because I find consoles tend to indulge in the fact they are a video game service, and are less concerned as presenting themselves as something else. And we have much brighter and varied color pallets coming off of that real is brown era, which I love.
