Abhorrent Beast is fun as hell. I literally felt exactly like you do my first time and ruined the fight for myself with that poison knife bullshit. Then I found out once you actually learn the boss the poison knife method is not only much longer but it's more dangerous because you never learn how to deal with any of his attacks and it's very easy for him to catch you.

Learn that shit and stomp his ass. That fight's rewarding as hell when you get use to him and learn to dodge in and out of his attacks, punishing him for everything he does. It's one of the best fights in the game.

I´m playing this on a friend´s PS4 (no DLC and no internet) and I can´t really find anything that comes even close to beating this thing in short range. it stuns, does a shitload of damage, consumes very little stamina, and the range of the swing when charged is just outstanding. Research Hall and Fishing Hamlet would actually be built into the game proper. Beating Amelia would open up the elevator to Research Hall. This would also allow you to explore Upper Cathedral Ward early. You could now get all the DLC weapons early and wouldn't have to go through Ludwig every time to do it.

Dodge forward-right and keep circling, punish and back of. Poison works good, ranged weapons as well if you're really having trouble. It's been a while, so I'm not 100% sure if it's the right or left side you should be dodging to. But anyway, one of them is safe from 90% of his attacks. You should dodge somewhat earlier than usual since he's pretty fast and will stun you if you don't avoid the first one.

I'm awful at this game but I'm loving it, currently on my second play through as I plan on playing the dlc for the first time, I used Ludwigs blade on my first and the axe on my current play through and I've got to say the axe is amazing.

Hyperarmor on any r2, any fucking r1 and r2 only if I know I can outspace or tip with the hitbox for the multihit.

Hyperarmor startup has a strange timing, and with correct pressure, wheel becomes hard to parry.

THATS in twohanded mode.
In onehanded mode, r1 spam has the EXACT frames to interrupt any sawcleaver spam, and interrupt most attacks just before they go off, meaning if someone mashes r1 through my attack, their gonna eat it.
Secondly, charge r2 is almost always a oneshot, always 4 digits. The hitbox reaches all the way around a player and has mild phantom range.


I am that guy with 32/32/32 blunt gems.
If you play aggressive, I will trade and regain most of my health through the sheer damage I am outputting, and will most likely 1-2sht you, if you are rocking anything under the 40-45 health stat even with health runes.

i am using the cane, mostly the whip part though.
looking forward to getting a better and cooler skill weapon though.

Transform attacks have higher damage multipliers, you'll ALWAYS want to go for a L1 to dodgecatch at the end in pvp, OR to overspend at the end of a combo to reach as much damage as possible.

Every Anon is posting a different weapon and every single weapon fills a niche. This is why BB is the best Souls game.

The sword's popularity is thanks to it being a straight sword, a weapon anyone with a lick of taste in melee weapons appreciates. The Moonlight sword is obviously popular from other FROM games and gets extra points for being the only non-trick weapon in the game making it feel more like an ancient cursed artifact weapon than a hunter's tool. If they gave you 20 for free it would be too easy, so the middle-ground is giving you a higher ammount to carry but they are true consumables (non regenerative) which in actual terms means sacrificing Souls to keep healing items up or wasting time farming (same thing, really). While playing DaS3 I was much more careless because my healing items are free so I didn't care at all when I got hit. In BB losing a couple of vials because of a stupid mistake felt more impactful because I knew I would have to spend 800 Souls to get them back at the shop or kill a minion that drops them.

Of course the majority of people just go for a normal build that doesn't spend a lot of bullets or uses blood sacrifice frequently so they don't question why the system is like this.

I think the best way would have been how Nioh did it. Start with a low fixed ammount, but enemies drop healing items. Worrying about spending on vials is kinda pointless since chalice dungeons give you stupid ammount of souls
