Have you guys ever experienced the Tetris Effect?
>>383202227
Literally everyone gets it, that's how brains work you mongoloid
>>383202416
Stop projecting autism. I've never had it and I've played tetris literally every single day of my life for the past 23 years at least.
>>383202648
Tetris Effect is not limited to the game of Tetris retard
Yeah, I've experienced it.
For some reason, I remembered Sinbad playing a genie in a movie, but apparently that never actually happened.
I'm 24 and what is this? no, really what is the Tetris effect, I'm too lazy to google it myself.
>>383203592
Please cite the part of my post where I indicated that it was you fucking cum guzzling mongoloid.
It's by far the easiest game to get affected by and there's a god damn reason it's called the tetris effect. There are so many circumstances that you can have that will make you think of it in that way. I'm saying I've played more tetris than probably 99.9% of /v/ and I've never experienced it once. Fuck off retard.
>>383205421
That's not tetris that's the beige pants effect.
>>383205596
>please spoonfeed me something that takes 2 seconds to google
>>383205596
No.
>>383205767
ya.
>>383205864
ok.
>>383205596
>The Tetris effect occurs when people devote so much time and attention to an activity that it begins to pattern their thoughts, mental images, and dreams. It takes its name from the video game Tetris.
>>383202227
Numerous times. I remember one time it transitioned from dreaming about Crash 2 to the console playing itself and not shutting off, even when unplugged.
>>383206324
So you get obsessed? calling it Tetris effect is a bit stupid it should just be called for what it is an obsession.
>>383202227
I had it really hard with smash bros. I think it´s pretty crazy to what extend you can simulate the game within your head.
>>383202227
This looks kind of like a small colored horse. Ain't that weird?
>>383206716
Stop right there. It's a llama.
>>383206471
What the fuck are you talking about
>>383205614
Have you done 6h+ sessions with no breaks?
>>383208284
I'm sure I have at one point or another. I don't keep a schedule or anything, it's just since '94 or so I've always played it every single day for at least an hour or two, whether on NES or gameboy or mobile phone or PC or whatever else.
Yeah back when Guitar Hero was a thing I would see those notes flying at me when I tried to go to sleep. Also probably something else that I can't remember right now
>>383208509
this I used to tap away on my desk with my pencils in 8th grade thinking of rockband drum patterns.
i don't actually remember seeing notes coming at me though
Yes, maybe like 5 years ago I played a lot of Tetris.
>>383206602
what am i supposed to see in this thing related to smash
A few times
>>383208759
It's not related to Smash, it's a mineral called bismuth and it's a beautiful mineral
>>383208952
Oh I thought you were implying something in the pattern reminded you of smash
>>383209134
Oh yeah that, I was simulating Smash Bros inside my mind and that thing in the picture appeared in my hand. I think it's a physical manifestation of Smash Bros
Back in 2010 when I started playing Minecraft (holy fuck seven years ago), I got it a lot when I would play on an individual server for weeks at a time.
Used to get it back when DDR was really popular. Would fall asleep to arrows scrolling up in my vision
>>383202227
Yep, massively
When i was kid like 8/9/10, i played New Super Mario on the wii CONSTANTLY. The wii was my first console, so that was my first game. The game kind of whooped my ass, until i started to finally, y'know, get the game. I finally got to Bowser at the end and it just COMPLETELY blew my wee wee off. TO the point where i had "Nightmares" of me getting my ass beat by Bowser. I finally locked down and played the game non-stop. Beating the game was the most orgasmic feeling a man can experience at such young age.
>>383211870

stop i hate thinking about my age

underage b& accidentally exposed himself lmao
>>383206546
I think you can legit see elements of the game irl. Kind of like pattern recognition crossed with muscle memory (they might be the same thing idk) because when I used to do rugby every-time anyone threw something at me I made my hands into pic related in anticipation even if it was a pencil and I couldn't catch it.
the Witness and its environmental puzzles fucked up my attention when going outside.
I just kept noticing those dots and lines everywhere I go til maybe a month later after I've finished the game. It's really not love on /v/, but I had a lot of fun in that game. It's pretty amazing how densely packed with puzzles the island is.
>>383202227
A mobile game. It's a mining game but gameplay like Mr. Driller. Music has a racing/hurry feel to it and there's a timer. Never played it again after experiencing it.
>>383202227
Yes.
After playing too damn much Diablo 2 I started wondering why things IRL weren't isometric.
>>383212351
People threw pencils at you?
>>383212889
Well I did it back at school and I can't really remember what kids threw at each other so I just said pencil. It was usually rubbers (not the sexual kind) if I needed to borrow something.
>>383202227
I've experienced the Runescape effect before
>>383214916
Your friends telling you they found something really cool out in the woods, so you follow them out there only to have them kick the shit out of you and take your stuff?
>>383202227
>Binge played dayz and arma 2 when it was still popular for hours everyday for weeks straight
>Mfw left the the house one day after a big gaming session
>Felt super tense when hearing helicopters and looking for cover all the time. Felt like I was gonna get shot. I even did the odd crouching run
That was a sonic tier autistic hell I never want to visit again

>>383202227
To this very day, every time I hear a song, I visualize a Guitar Hero chart in my mind.

>very faintly saw tetris block falling around the speaker and on their shoulders
>thought I was going crazy
Well I did put about 60+ hours of Tetris in about a month
I've had it for tetris, counterstrike, LoL, Wow raids, and Smite
Fuc k
>>383212094
>10
>8+10=18
?
Mostly happens with games that I play for several hours a day for several days straight, like I used to with LoL or Civ 5. Then at night while I sleep I keep thinking of different ingame scenarios and it fucks with my ability to sleep
I've had it happen while having sex after playing eve online for like 50 hours straight
i had just scammed a pubbie out of 72 billion isk (where 0.5 billion is about $15 real money if you buy it from the devs) through a complex web of lies and while i was fucking her from behind i was staring at this white wall in a dark room and could just see the little beeping wallet notification, ships exploding, and green text with various amounts of in-game money
>>383202227
doom 1 & 2 at the age of like 10.
game rocked my world. heard pinkies rushing towards me on the farm only to turn my head and nothing was there.
I still play doom today vanilla, mods, extra levels, everything. doom and smb 1 are the only games i've play consistently through the years.
>>383220023
typing that out, i also remember jumping from stone to stone in the back yard where we had paths made through muddy paths just like mario's platforms in smb.
man, to be young again.
>>383218581
You said 8-9-10. Mario Wii wasn't out until 2009. If you were playing at 8 you were playing at the earliest in 2009.
>>383202227
Yep. Next question?

Yeah there's no way this kid is 18 lol. But underage faggots aren't worse than annoying mods/jannies
>>383220856
Yes they are.
I've never escaped it.
>>383219469
One of the best posts this year. Capped
ive had it for osu with listening to music and imagining the circles as i listen
It happened to me as a child that after playing plenty of Mario and then watching some action movie wonder about why the hero doesn't just jump on the bad guys
>>383212785
It is also densely packed with entry-level quotes. The game would be great if Blow's head was not buried so deep in his ass.
I turn on the stasis rune in BotW just to make objects of interest light up so I can see them.
I thought of using it to find the end of a garden hose that was hidden in grass
>>383202227
No, because I experience the ever-superiorPuyoeffect.
Tetris plebians go home.

>>383202227
Was playing Dying Light and I went outside and I wanted to start jumping on roofs
>>383226116
Genuinely never had that happen to me. I think it's because Puyo have more distinct shapes than Tetriminos so it's probably harder to see everyday objects as them.
Yeah after playing a ton of GTA when I was younger I always wondered why we never just drive over sidewalks to get somewhere faster
>>383227259
didnt happen
I played left 4 dead a lot when I got it. Eventually I started visualizing everywhere I went to as a campaign.
>>383229231
Well it did little anon. I don't care if you believe me.
