Because the new system ties Art recharges to autoattack and DOESN'T start every battle with all your arts fully charged PLUS you need to charge another meter by USING arts tied to your autoattack in order to be able to change Blades, and each Blades only has 3 normal arts and one talent arts. In Xenoblade Chronicles X, it was entirely possible to shit on an entire mob by cycling through one combo of your eight arts right at the start of the battle, and then having that combo ready again for the next encounter, while here, every encounter requires X amount of autoattacks in order to launch a combo that can't be more than three arts deep before being allowed to change to another selection of 3 arts eventually.

I'm not saying EVERY fight was like that, but at least some where, especially late game when you had access to more varied and powerful arts. Xenoblade 2's system doesn't allow ANY fight to be dealt with quickly because now every fight requires you to rely on autoattacks at first, and autoattacks are complete trash damage-wise compared to Arts.

X handled a diverse ecology a lot more maturely than most games trying to bank on the multiculturalism fad, come to think of it, though I suppose it's to be expected when that's an actual theme rather than an attempt to cash in on specific audiences. I honestly wouldn't mind another attempt at that rather than what seems to be just another instance of fantasy races "learning to work together". Obviously we don't know if it's as generic as it sounds yet but I'm really not looking forward to the story or anything writing related in XC2. All I'm hoping for is large, semi-retired environments as good as the first's if not better. If X was an indication of anything it's that MonolithSoft can do some stellar world design.

That's really bad advice, you can only really play around with the combat system when you're over leveled in Xenoblade because if you don't know what you're doing and you're under leveled you will get shat on pretty quickly. Obviously if you're already familiar with the combat that's probably a great way to play the game if you're doing all sidequests but for a newcomer that's not going to be fun at all.

That's very unlikely, there are like 5 customization icon per character and different kinds of ships in the city we saw. I can see the not story relevant Blades not having option for cosmetic customization, but that's about it.
