You use the DS touchscreen to clean off fossils and make your dinosaurs stronger. The whole process is really comfy and satisfying if you get into it.

When you go into battle it's 3 on 3, there's two zones.
AZ(Attack Zone) and SZ(Support Zone) and if you're really desperate, EZ(Escape Zone)

Certain vivosaurs have support effects (Activated by being placed in SZ) that will either help your vivosaurs, or hurt enemy vivosaurs.

To attack you charge FP (Fossil Power) over each turn. The amount of FP you charge each turn goes up after you rank up. It goes up about 10 each level i think. Btw, you level up in fossil tourneys that only start up after certain chunks of story are complete.

As for Fossil Fighters Champions, the battle system is upgraded so much that I can't explain it all. The game does a good job of showing you the ropes though. Other than that, it's all the same.

It's not at all a great game, don't believe the memes. It's strictly okay at best. Imagine Pokemon but stripped of 95% of its content and everything that makes it a good series, throw in some dinosaurs and that's what Fossil Fighters is like. Haven't played the sequels though.

no it takes everything that the sequel expanded upon in the original and threw it all out of the window the replaced the overworld with the protag driving a jeep,you no longer control 3 dinos at once. Now you only choose one dino while there are 2 pre selected partners AI and they can never change it's just not a fun game.
it had decent updated models for few of the vivosaurs while some took a nosedive and the opening theme is cheezy as fuck.

Next game we're gonna have to ride on our vivosaurs, and every 2 steps will be another battle.

We don't even control the vivosaur, we just watch it battle. winning and Losing is just luck and support shots. We don't even clean fossils either, we watch the cleaning robot do it for us.

The only people who cared about Frontier's release were old fans. I saw not a single kid picking up Frontier while working at Gamestop. Only fellow older fans who are now in their teens/early adulthood.
