And of course it's using SM models, those models were intentionally done at a much higher quality than what the 3DS can run so they can be reused in future games. GO and Pokken also use them.

Please, just look at how XY turned out and then look at SM. And those are both on the same console, so expect a shitty looking pokémon game and then a much better looking one for 9th gen at the end of Switch's life cycle.
