halo 3 baby here and ive got some questions for fans of halo CE multi.

its fun, but i still dont see why people call it the best of the series. i dont like the fast pace of 2 and prefer the slower pace of 3, but CE just feels too slow. except for those times theres a chain reaction of grenades. i think if i could play one game of CE without magnums i would enjoy it more. maybe im spoiled by modern games, but i feel like for a console fps you kinda need the melee lunge. CE feels antiquated without it, but maybe if i play the pc version it will feel better. jumps feel floaty, but they do in all halos. im not sure about vehicle balance since ive played too few games with vehicles, but that just feels off too.

im not hating, just curious. its the game that started the franchise, soit must have been liked for a reason.

Most people who call it best in the series are talking about its campaign. It has the best written campaign of all 3 games, and it was the first, so it was the most original experience of them. Mechanically, it probably only feels off to you because you played them backwards. Everyone played on LAN/system link and loved how it played.
