Gone home wasn't bad because it was a walking simulator, gone home was bad because it had awful writing, """"progressive"""" characters that made anyone who was actually gay roll their eyes, and it could be beaten in 15 minutes.


Firewatch, at least has some minor gameplay, a nice, realistic story, and is actually really comfy if you're an outdoors person. It's definitely not worth the original $20 asking price, but it's worth a pirate, or $5.

Talk about misleading

I enjoyed both Gone Home and Firewatch.
The writing in Gone Home was great. It wasn't really about being gay. That was just your sister's arc. It was more about the revealing of and confronting the hidden struggles people have in life.

Like your mother's struggle not to stray from a marriage where the passion has died down, or your father's struggle to become an established author and to break free from his childhood abuse at the hands of his uncle . The writing was actually pretty good. I won't fault other people for finding the story a bit sappy, but I liked it A LOT. Especially the '90s backdrop.
