See now if someone unaware of the specific humor of the show reads this it actually seems like they're justifying that sort of dialogue with a straight faced explanation when read on its own, and if the show itself cut Sticks' reaction you'd subsequently need a laugh track or wacky sound effect to convey that what Amy said is meant to be a joke and not information for the viewer on the nature of transitions.

See, regardless of how often or flippantly it's done a 4th Wall joke only really works if the show is acknowledging the audience but internally isn't supposed to, if Amy was legitimately trying to explain a convention to the audience even in a wink-wink-nudge-nudge then there's really no 4th wall and really no joke.

Sticks helps hammer in that what Amy said isn't a justification for anything in reality unless you're completely nuts, helping the audience ease back into the sense that Amy shouldn't be saying what she is, re-establishing the 4th wall, despite breaking it ironically, and helping the joke retain its sense of inappropriate logic. Which gives it back its comedy.

The panels you removed *was* the punchline. You see, In panel 4, when Sticks asks, "Why did you just say that", the audience gets the first half of the joke. That Amy's reference to a previous time, is inconsistent with the actual sequence of events.
In this case, sticks is playing the straightman, as Amy is the one acting a bit wacky, and Sticks is staying grounded. So the subsequent panels 5, 6 and 7, are there to set up the second half of the joke. The second half of the joke, is that you *expect* Sticks to remain grounded and call Amy out on being crazy. But instead, Sticks one-ups Amy's craziness with her own. Breaking the fourth wall, which just a second ago, she was seemingly incredulous about Amy doing the very same.

There are some pretty funny jokes in Drawn Together and the concept itself is pretty neat. They definitely were intentionally trying to be as offensive as possible at some points though, because the critics absolutely hated the show and as long as they had the budget, they just kept going. Long story short, Sega of America and Sega of Japan didn't know/care about what the other was doing with their actual story until the Adventure games came out and put it directly into the game. The original Japanese name Eggman became first a degrading nickname in Adventure, then the name he referred to himself by in Adventure 2 as the brand was unified internationally.

It's actually changed a lot. In the US until So I'd adventure 2 his name was Robotnik, in Japan it was always eggman. When Sonic Adventure came out they started using Eggman in all regions but as a nickname.

In adventure 2 they did change it to Eggman. HOWEVER. Here is something that's interesting. His grandfather is Gerald Robotnik, his surname is Robotnik but for whatever reason he calls himself Eggman. The fan theory is he changed it to protect his family heritage.
