In that they have delved into and enjoyed things about other cultures other than their own to the point that they mix and match the thing they enjoy and have fun with to make an interesting and different product which many around the globe can then enjoy for it being such a unique piece of multi media that stands out do tho how multicultural the person or person in charge and on the team making the game were.

Japanese people is used to do things right, so a Japanese developer has more chances of making good games. The thing is that they are also submissive enough to follow what companies say, wanting to appeal to the public even in the lowest ways in order to sell their games, and that's why there are so much fanservice only games or cute things. These however, are as good as a Japanese developer can be, but instead of following the japanese rules, they do what they want, and the results are great for that reason.
Except Kojimbo, his are not that good.
