i think gameplay it self should be challenging, like pulling off a button assignment,windows for timing being small requiring some sort of skill etc etc

unless that's kind of what you're talking about, then yeah i agree. but difficult AI is just like a random number generator. you just get your ass kicked until the generator gives in and allows you to win.

thats what made dark souls so lame. one playthrough you can breeze through a boss, the next it goes full terminator and you're 10+ tries deep until it finally gives in and permits openings.
