You don't have to grind them at all.
You can find an abundance of them and the max you can hold is 20.

It's really not that difficult.

The only times I have to use a lot of them are during boss fights where I make small mistakes and am not paying attention.
Shit, the rally mechanic even helps you get health back.

Why would I defend one of the easiest games in the history of gaming franchises. Seriously each area following the "chosen hunter" and his excessively buffed weapons from assorted game locations as he fights brainless enemies has been less engaging than the last. Aside from the handholding, the game's only consistency is providing you with absolutely retarded, unchallenging mobs and allowing you to run through all of them without any combative motivation thoughout the entire game. All to make the difficult feel easy, to make action seem inert.

Perhaps the die was cast when From Software voted to make the game a PS4 exclusive; they made sure the series would never be mistaken for a work of art that meant anything to anybody. just ridiculously profitable cross-promotion for the souls series. Bloodborne might be anti-Christian (or not), but it’s certainly the anti-Final Fantasy 7 in its refusal of challenge, skill and excitement. No one wants to face that fact. Now, thankfully, they no longer have to.

>a-at least the Dark Souls games were good though
"No!"
The enemies were easy; the bosses were unfairly hard. As I played, I noticed that every time a enemy went for an attack, he spent an unrealistic amount of time telegraphing an attack.
I began marking on the back of an envelope every second the enemy stretched his arm back. I stopped only after I had marked the envelope a several dozen times. I was incredulous. Miyazaki's mind is so governed by outdated game design philosophies that he has no other style of challenge. Later I read a lavish, loving review of Dark Souls by the same Kevin-V from Gamespot. He wrote something to the effect of, "If these kids are playing Bloodborne at 11 or 12, then when they get older they will go on to play the Star Wars Jedi Knight." And he was quite right. He was not being ironic. When you play "Bloodborne" you are, in fact, trained to play Jedi Academy.

That was a great fucking fight. One thing I don't get about the story though is, what was up with the nightmare areas? Are they actual physical places? Are they like a silent hill type thing? Characters like Maria/Gehrman/Micolash seem to be long dead in the waking world, but they're still up and around in the nightmare/dream worlds, so are they ghosts? And who the fuck was Mergo?

What i do like about the blood vials is how they're just a flat 33% health refill and there's no upgrades to how much they heal or how many you can carry. They way you can design encounters with everyone roughly having the exact same amount of healing available to them in mind as opposed to souls, which has those two variables to muck it all up.
>>
>>383113910
They are alternate dimensions that are 'hosted' by a the mind of particular being, whether Micolash, Gehrman, or whoever. They're not ghosts, they're sustained by whatever dream/nightmare they're in. If you destroy them in the dream/nightmare, and they no longer have a body to return to in their home dimension, they will die for good. The Hunter's Dream works a bit differently because it was engineered for a different purpose than the nightmare realms.

Mergo is a baby ayylmao
>>
>>383113910
Dreams are a different temporal state due to the old ones and the secrets discovered by insight. The hunter's dream seems to be made by the Moon Prescene to force the cycle to continue on while nightmares were made by groups of people gaining insight into differnt powers. Mergo was the baby created by the queen and Kosm, and micolash gained insight and created that nightmare, where as the old blood dlc nightmare seems to be directly related to the atrocity that happened in the fishing hamlet, maybe the rage of the peasents beckoned the old ones and created it for mad hunters? it's all very loosely connected. It's less like ghost and more like they abandoned their bodies and live "forever" within the old ones realms of dreams/nightmares

I don't know what it is but I just despise the lack of certainty in the Soulsborne games. You can go into any given thread and see the same questions asked all the time about key plot points with a bunch of different "answers" that are mostly just theories. They often contradict in small ways or even start out-and-out fighting with each other. It's strange because I generally like JRPGs which are known for their insane leaps of logic and vagueness, yet here somehow it bothers me.
>>
>>383097861
Good question, but who says it's a needle? He could be slamming the jar hole into his thigh and letting it leak in.
>>
>>383094170
They make sense lorewise and that's all that matters.
>>
>>383099973
Saw blade? You mean saw cleaver? That's the best weapon to use so just try harder I guess
>>
Reminder that paleblood is the moon presence and the reason why Great One infants are always stillborn is because MP always sends out hunters to abort them which is why you're able to be released from the dream as soon as you kill Mergo.
>>
>>383116213
It's too much vagueness to get a grasp on. JRPG vagueness is maybe 1 or 2 points, in reality it's very simple and doesn't have much lore built into the situations. Soulsborne games build a fuck ton of lore by dropping miniscule amounts of information, so while there is some areas of agreement, a metric fuck ton of it is guesswork. I like it just because it allows you to build your own theories, and thereby craft your own story, but if you want a narrative told at you it seems pretty half-assed
>>
>>383116213
That's mostly only smaller things and lore for certain characters though. The big things in the games are pretty much spelled out for you. Like in Bloodborne in the DLC, they never explicitly tell you what's going on, but you can easily infer that Byrgenwerth started murdering/experimenting on villagers and likely somehow killed Kos or experimented on its body, causing the curse of the nightmare, and this was the big "secret" of the nightmare.
>>
>>383116213
That's funny, because I love it for the same reason you hate it. I love that I always have questions, and find it fun piecing together this mosaic of lore tidbits into a cohesive structure. I also find the mythos themselves to be really cool. Fromsoft is really good at gothic horror.
>>

Estus wouldn't work with the rally system
Anyone who thinks it would is a faggot who should never get anywhere near game design or criticism

Main problem is how many you can carry. 10 would be far better.
>>
>>383094170
Fast games need fast healing
>>
>>383117208
The rally system is barely worth mentioning - if you use the Hunter's Axe, it's viable for like the first 3 areas. Then it's useless, and stays useless. But the time you get to the Defiled etc Chalice Dungeons it's but a dream within a dream of a mechanic.
>>
>>383117562
I used the rally system throughout the entire game
Defiled chalice I guess is a special case because your health is so low but the chalice dungeons were the nadir of the game anyway.

Bloodborne is beyond easy though, I couldn't believe what I was seeing when I discovered a core mechanic is being able to summon 2 players to do anything remotely difficult for you - not that I needed to because you can just run past 99% of enemies without getting touched.

That's not true. The concept of insight, bells and collecting madman items are revolved around making summoning a core function. Along with offering offline NPCs for you to summon just before boss battles.

That only scratches the surface though. Items that are designed to completed cheese bosses for you, health replenishes as you attack (unbelievably), locking on makes your attacks auto aim rendering accuracy a pointless commodity, spectres and notes every step of the way to literally tell and show you what to do.....I could go on.
