Also, Lopunny and Mega Lopunny are so different in design. One looks like they'd be a much more agile fighter and the other is kind of top-heavy. It just sounds like a big mess trying to figure it out.

OP posted Mega Lopunny, which is Normal/Fighting. I guess the thing that bothers me is that Mega Lopunny looks better suited for Pokken than regular Lopunny does and it wouldn't make sense to change playstyles if it Mega Evolves or to have it permanently Mega to work with the game.

Because nobody actually likes fighting types because they aren't usually fuckable/merchandisable compared to edgy psychic/steel types. Machamp only got in as a poster boy for them because he's probably the most famous fighting type there is.

You could probably include more dark types too since they're basically "dirty fighting" to the honourable regular fighting types

You have it backwards: What would be the point of having a pokemon fighting game with only fighting types?

Think about it: Fighting types in pokemon are only cool due to using plain old martial arts in a setting with elemental magic. They stand out due to their relative normalacy.

If you have a game with only fighting type pokemon, then that appeal dissapers. They aren't creatures managing to deal with elemental ones with brute force and skill, they are just martial artists fighting each other like any other fighting game. And hell, other fighting game characters are actually LESS generic then the average fighting type pokemon.

Add some Dark Types. they're basically the kind of guys who would crowbar your knees while fighting types would fight you 1 v 1. That allows shits like Krookodile, Weavile and Scrafty to be fighters too. Problem solved.
