>hurrr I want to wound my enemy but also cauterize it for them
>>383071502
nice man, I want some food rn myself
I imagine the flame passes too quickly to cauterize the wound. Like running your finger through a candle.
>>383071502
do you like hamburgers or hotdogs more?
Imagine feeling excruciating pain and then having it healed, then receiving that pain over and over again. Fire typically causes extended damage over a long period of time, these types of weapons are for real sadists.
It's not conducive to killing, but that's not what it's about
I'm pretty sure I'd rather just get chopped up with a sword that WASN'T on fire. The added 3rd degree burns is just unnecessary.
>>383071502
>Stab an enemy with my flaming sword
>Now his innards are being boiled
>>383071502
>he doesnt want to demoralize his enemies while also setting their clothes on fire
Get a load of this scrub.
Never underestimate the psychological factor. A dude who wields a flaming sword should look pretty terrifying to common men-at-arms. Not to mention,GOBLINS ARE WEAK AGAINST FIRE ARISEN
>>383071502
Or MAYBE you want to set your enemies aflame? Maybe you need a specialized enchantment such as flame to deal with certain undead or demonic opponents.
Maybe the magical fire is so intense that it melts through flesh and armor alike?
>>383071502
>Stops the blood from exiting the wound almost immediatly
you get a chance to fight back and survive since it desintesizes the wound at the same time
>>383071935
I remember reading somewhere that if someone was actually hit with a weaponized laser beam it would actually cause massive wounds because the heat would flash boil the blood around the impact spot or something.
>>383071502
>Plantoids
>>383072079
>Maybe the magical fire is so intense that it melts through flesh and armor alike?
Wouldn't that melt the sword, its sheathe and the wearer's own armor itself?
>>383072154
US army successfully tested a combat laser on a helicopter. We'll know what happens when a human is hit with it real soon, I wager.
>>383072291
>making a magical sword that fucks up the person holding it
What kind of shit tier enchanter are you anon?
>>383071502
>Implying getting the cauterized wound ripped the fuck raw with the second slash wouldn't be painful enough to render the victim unconcious if not dead from shock right then and there
>>383072291
Man, if I were the mage who enchanted the weapon and that happened I'd fucking kill myself.
>>383072291
Magic, ain't gotta explain shit.
>>383072291
No, because it's a magical enchantment. The sword is protected by default.
As for the wielder, he may need secondary magical protection against the flame. Alternatively, the heat is only conducted through direct contact with the blade so that you aren't flash roasting all your nearby allies.
>>383072291
It's magic nerd I ain't gotta explain shit
>>383071502
makes them live longer therefore more wounds until death
>>383072567
DUUUUUUDE YOO LAMO X'DDDDDD
>>383072567
That's a granted one, so I'll go along with assuming that the sword is protected by its own fire.
Would it mean the weapon is immune against ALL fire-related effects?
>Alternatively, the heat is only conducted through direct contact with the blade
This is where we start to have problems with the sheathe itself, then.
It's not just that, but the fact that heat is only conducted through direct contact;
means it'll actually be harder to repair the weapon itself.
Since y'know, it would mean that you have a ridiculous amount of heat.
It's either that there would be too much heat involved to heat the blade and repair it;
or you actually wouldn't have any heat at all, because the sword would be immune
to all effects of fire; because the sword was enchanted to protect itself from its own flames.
You can't repair the blade of the weapon, making it incredibly brittle; rendering its physical capability near useless.
>>383074202
>its magic
>Would it mean the weapon is immune against ALL fire-related effects?
no temperatures vary thats why the sun is hotter than my gas stove
also games have done this its why we have blacksmith!= arcane blacksmith/enchanter
>>383074202
I think it's safe to assume that the fire enchantment protects it from heat, but can also be turned on and off.
Otherwise, you would probably melt any sheath you put the blade in.
>>383072532
I'll take things that never happened for 500 Alex
>>383074202
>You can't repair the blade of the weapon
This is why you also enchant it with increased durability. Eventually it will break, but that's just the downside of enchanted weapons.
>>383074901
Unless the sheath is also protected with fire immunity
>>383074792but those are games that didn't take everything into accountlike dark souls, and your +5 chaos zweihanderit's just like having explosions in space
>>383074901
>but can also be turned on and off.
Now we've suddenly ran into a bigger problem.
An enemy of yours can easily disable the fire enchantment.
Yes though, it would help to make the sheathe dis-able the sword's fire effect.
>>383075303
I have a better idea.
>wear gloves that protect from fire
>cast a weightless beam of pure fire
>could disable it to prevent friendly fire
>bring a normal sword just in case
>>383075942
>wear gloves that protect from fire
>cast a weightless beam of pure fire
>could disable it to prevent friendly fire
>bring a normal sword just in case
So just be a mage instead? Probably the best idea, magic would be OP in real life.
>>383075942
It's fair to assume that the method of disabling your sword's enchantment would be one that's not exactly easy for the opponent to perform.
And an enemy dispelling the effect is always an issue for enchanted items, just something you have to deal with.
>throw pots of oil at your enemy
>swing your sword around
>all their wood shields catch on fire and those without shields burn alive
>>383076338
Yeah basically.
You can enchant your own shit, too.
>>383075942
>An enemy of yours can easily disable the fire enchantment.
yes, but you still have a sword to use while they try to do it
unless its an anime in which case the plot armor is so thick that even nuclear warheads wont kill the hero
>>383071631
It's the burning piece of metal that would make contact; like a hot poker.
>>383076338
>run into another mage that just teleports you into space
I'm really sick of how every game ever has enchanted weapons.
A flaming sword should be something special and unique, not commonplace tripe that is quickly outclassed by other weapons.
>>383076714
>He can't cast antimagic barrier
>>383072154
Not to mention the instant blindness if it so much as flashes your face
>>383076529
>enemy throws a pot of oil at you
>>383076714
>not casting a protective spell that enables you to traverse space
>>383072398
We've used weaponized lasers for years. Helo deployment is a testament to how refined the system has gotten. They're bumpy rides.
>implying flaming swords aren't the coolest shit ever
>>383071502
yeah well it looks cool okay so fuck off
>>383071502
>create a neverending powersource
>use it to stab goblins and shit
