Diablo 3 doesn't have as much worthwhile content. Path of Exile has consistently added new things over the years, and implemented elements which give it decent replayability, as well as make grinding more interesting. League Stones and Prophecies are great mechanics. In a sense PoE is a more fitting Diablo II successor than Diablo III is.

Diablo III is one of the most disappointing games I've ever played, it's a hack and slash minus all the rewarding parts. Big map shit all reward for exploring them. A million dead ends in crypts so you'd better like smashing pots. The least committed storytelling and dialogue since Kingdoms of Amalur.

Titanquest was literally fields for the GRAND majority of the game and it was still more engaging than Diablo III

Yea no, that's bullshit. Last time I played D3, I got to cap and then got within top 1000 ladder within a day of playing. That game is dead as fuck and has been for multiple seasons now. No one wants to run GRift #1623562, and even the most hardcore Blizzdrones figured that shit out by now. I would know, the only recent Blizzard game I haven't played was SC2 because I don't like the genre.

PoE consistently puts out new content that's refreshing and keeps the game experience new. Diablo 3 went like 4 seasons without even balance changes. It's a fucking trainwreck and has been abandoned by Blizzard. The Necromancer class is a lame cashgrab to try to get people to go back and try it out, only to realize that the game is still the same exact piece of shit it was before, devoid of any content to do but push for higher numbers.

They do that thing where they count anyone owning a game but make sure to gift the game to hald of all battlenet accounts. They love to collect dead souls and then boast about the numbers.

Diablo 3 ruined a lot of stuff, but at least progressing was a challenge at launch, even if you were stuck grinding for inferno gear or buying it off the AH.
These days it's nothing but:
1. boost to 70, leveling is shit anyway
2. grinding for the only items that are not completely lazy and streamlined to fuck , the sets and legendaries with gimmicks changing up playstyles. Every drop biased towards your character.
3. play the slot machine for those specific items for specific limited builds so you can progress
That's it. Not saying you can't have fun, but outside of the combat the mechanics and theorycrafting are deep as a slot machine.

I always played Diablo 2 by having fun leveling and finding stuff along the way to create new characters around.
I'm excited to see how PoE will be when the new expansion throws out the normal/NM/Hell difficulty tradition and you actually get new acts and redesigned acts for higher levels

Diablo 3 is faster and morevisceral. Plays great on a controller, has a pleasing artstyle and easthetics. Easy to pick up and experiment with builds.

Poe has a really extensive skill tree and intresting skills one can professionalize in, kinda reminds me of diablo 1 but is a bit more varied.

I still enjoy diablo the most even in its vanilla form on the x360 since its quick mindless fun.

This. D3 is actually a good amount of fun. I went back to it for the necromancer and had a blast through the campaign and low level rifts. And then I hit GR40 and I was instantly over it because you can't not minmax. Apparently I didn;t even scratch the "endgame" which I've come to learn is an endless loot treadmill of marginal statistic upgrades of the same equipment.

Now I'm playing PoE again until the Grim Dawn DLC hits.

Same with poison and crit. There was no reason not to put them in your build if you could.

Ignite will still be strong with the new gems, just not as it use to be. Flame totem builds actually got a buff, and if incinerate got it's mana cost lowered it could also make a comeback.

PoE has it's issues but is the far stronger, realized game.

Everyone knows D3 has potential, but it's gotten about as far as it's going to get innovation-wise. Bliz is going to just milk the dwindling playerbase with more 15 dollar classes. Doubtful we'll ever see a full expansion again.

One thing that is worth saying is that the PoE development team is one of the absolute best in terms of talking to their customers and their wants. Lead developers are talking on the forums EVERY DAY to players, taking in suggestions. The new 2week race is being crafted from player suggestions right now, a while ago some guy on reddit made a mockup of some wings and the artists actually put it in game and gave him a freebie. Customer service emails are answered almost always within 10 minutes.

The problem is ES was never a choice. 9 times out of 10 if you had the budget, ES was always the safer choice, even without VP.

It needs tweaking, but you'll still see ES builds in 3.0. At least now there's some semblance of a choice, with even hybrid builds maybe making a comeback.

I'm actually excited that shit like Carcass Jack and Lightning Coil will actually be used again. A bonus is that this will hopefully help diversify the economy again, which again is just dominated by ES shit. The fact that there will actually be a market for life based rare shields blows my mind (100 life on block whaaaat).

It's a brain dead game for when you want to be brain dead and just kill shit mindlessly. The social element can spice it up a bit as any other multiplayer game, and I mean like with real acquaintances, not grouping with the random robots that never say a single word.

The problem is people had such high expectations, when the game is aimed towards people that probably don't invest more than 4 hours a week on the same game. Anyone can no life the content in 1-2 days and complain it's shallow as shit, but those who play casually with friends think it's amazing because they play sub optimally and probably have no idea what they're doing.
