Guild voice actors think they are the video game equivalent of movie stars. They think they are the star attraction and the reason people buy the games, so they think they deserve a portion of the profits.

In reality no-one cares who is voicing a character, at least not enough for it to have any influence on purchasing the game. This was proven with Metal Gear Solid V. David Hayter played Snake for like 15 years and was unceremoniously fired, but so far as anyone can tell it had little to no impact on MGSV's sales. There's no such thing as a video game star vehicle, like a movie where they write it with the intention of casting George Clooney because they know that it's going to get a bunch of 40 year old single moms into the theater.

Video game voice actors are largely disposable because voices are and never have been the star attraction of video games. They are but one element of many that goes into creating a game, and they are one of the less consequential.
