Squaresoft left Nintendo when they refused to make a CD based system. In the short time the Nintendo/Sony system was proposed, Squaresoft had changed their design plans almost overnight for Final Fantasy 7. When Nintendo refused to expand storage over ten fold, Squaresoft threatened to leave. The Nintendo CEO didn't try to stop them.

Is tales of berseria really a good game? Because I tried the demo and it seemed kinda boring.

I'll buy it if the full game is better.

Sony consoles have been good for JRPGs since the PS1. Nintendo consoles get good remakes on the handhelds but RPGs on their home consoles are lacking. You get Xenoblade but that is it.

SNES was the last era Nintendo got big third party support and devs jumped to Playstation as soon as PS1 released.

I guess PS3 was the most lackluster compared to the PS1 and PS2 Jrpg golden ages and the current PS4 japanese renaissance, but that's the exception.
