He has a show with different segments and not a Let's Player.

They just got lazy. It's not jap but it is also heavy on local lingo,local only subject and heavy dialogue but I still get it done. Just check one gccx episode, there is only 100 lines each. 100 lines timesetting/translating/etc 5 minutes each which is incredibly slow will only take you 500 minutes. Literally do 10 lines a day and you can get one done in 10 days, spending 1 hour a day on translating.

There is something really wonderful about Japanese narration esp. on game shows etc. It's often very dramatic and self-serious -- so at once you know you can't take it seriously, but you kind of have to anyway. It's an infectious sort of enthusiasm.

GCCX is pretty funny but it does not try to make a joke with every line. And since Arino himself doesn't run the production, he doesn't get to curate his personality, so I think he seems more like a far-away friend than an in-your-face brand. There's no denying that he's a cult, though. I feel much the same way about MST3K -- too busy having fun to be cool.
