I'm only playing it now on the switch version, but reading into it, it sounded like bullshit where if you even talk to booster you were doomed for the bad ending. In the switch version, if you talk to him, you get an option to not take the booster v0.8. Is that a new thing?

In the original, you see him fall into a pit, and if you fall in after him, the booster is the only means of escape. So he gives them to you and immediately keels over and dies. For some reason, he DOESN'T die if the conversation never happens, but you need to do a jump almost pixel perfectly.

Yes, that is new. If you interact with Booster at all when he teleports into the Labyrinth, he gives you the incomplete one and dies, and the only thing that hints otherwise is a missable message somewhere that says he hopes he can complete it before his time comes (and the fact that it's only version 0.8). I think the message is in the house on the Balcony, on like the bookshelf?

Ah ok, so it is new. A couple things were changed in the switch version that make the bad end easier to avoid. Some infamous jump that doomed curly to drown when she was on your back was also adjusted it seems because I never came across it.

Whether you think that's an improvement or bullshit messing with a classic is your call. Just something I noticed reading into getting the good end while going through the switch version.

You can also inspect the teleporter right below where he falls, and it's mentioned that it could be fixed by a skilled scientist or something. If he dies, the teleporter never gets fixed

I dunno. Most of the quest seems in tact. It sounds just annoying that doing something that counter intuitive should be the key to getting the good ending. You'd still probably take the 0.8 booster doing a blind run, just like you'd trade the polar star without knowing any better first chance you got. It's just nice to have an that box there so if you got the hint, you don't just accidentally do it.
