What is your most favorite JRPG? Pic related
>>382975987
I can't decide, I fucking love JRPGs.
Maybe Shining Force? I have fond memories of it.
>>382975987
Dark Souls
>>382975987
Should have called it FF13 and and not let MS keep the rights to it.
Bump, we could use a nice jrpg tread.
>>382981091
I agree. JRPG threads are always pretty good.
>>382979238
my brother of african descent
>>382979238
this is objectively true.
Either this or Xenogears.
Arc the Lad II is quite possibly the greatest hidden masterpiece of the PSX.
Cool, when I bumped the thread it went back to page 8 so I just assumed it would die.
I'm always here to shill BoFIV, love this game. To me it is near perfect.
I'm a little embarrassed by this answer, but the battle system was so much fun. I wish they would have kept on being translated.
Arc 1-2 was good but entire series went down after that.
>>382983653
Shit, been a long time since I saw that sprite
>>382983809
Sell me on it anon, I played BOF2 and was meh on it.
>>382983809
Muh nigga. it is a 3 way tie between Breath of Fire 4, Legend of Dragoon and Lost Odyssey for my fav
>>382983653
Then, why did you post 3?
>>382983809
yw anon, I love JRPG threads
Does that game work well on emulators?
>>382984082
BoFIII and BoFIV are much better, trust me. Snes was when the series was still kind of getting it's footing, ps1 is when it really became something special.
BoFIV has a lot going for it. Great combat system, good story and characters, amazing art (some of the great sprite art in any game), and a unique soundtrack. Unlike most rpgs that are more medieval inspired BoFIV is inspired more by Asian culture and religon. My only flaws are it's too easy overall and it has a bit of padding near the end but it is a phenomenal game.

Yeah, should run fine. If anything it was ported to the pc, same exact game if you're wondering.
>>382984695
Cool, I'll give it a go. I remember seeing an ad for this series long ago in a magazine (GBA game with some odd bear-man). Looked interesting.

I can vouch for that game looks feels and plays like nothing else. same Dragon Quarter sucked so hard it killed the franchise for almost 20 years
>>382984082
If you didn't like it, I can only congratulate you on being a massive faggot, bravo. You have nothing else to expect from the genre, let alone the series.
>>382985083
>almost 20 years
Anon I...I wish BoFV was the last one.
Whatever sorcery they performed with the Saturn to pump out those sick tunes will forever be recognized by me.

>albert odyssey
>albert
this is the worst name for a hero I've seen all week
Breath of Fire is probably the most overrated series on /v/. However, being such it has only archived mediocrity. It's always being recommended, but it's never, rarely, or barely is being talked about.

>most overrated series on /v/
Are you fucking serious? That's cool if you don't like them.but how is it overrated?
>>382975987
why is he wearing a Mercedes star? Is he retarded?
>>382982867
There is no doubt in my mind that you are my particular African-American brother.
>>382985847
Nobody in your party is actually named Albert, surprisingly (and stupidly). The only game we got in the West was a spinoff of the original Albert Odyssey, which was a Fire Emblem-esque strategy game (where you did actually play as Albert).
Legend of Eldean is a straight, Final Fantasy-styled, four-man party JRPG though.
>>382986218
I thought I have explained it pretty good. It's always being shilled here like >>382983809 have said, but for such an ordinary at best series it is being mentioned in recommendations way too much.
>>382986228
Maybe he owns Benz.
>>382986705
It's a pretty well liked series overall, III and IV have always been well regarded. Interested, have you played IV or V? I can see someone saying I-III is maybe generoc but IV and espicially V are pretty unique among jrpgs.
>>382984025
There's nothing to be embarrassed about. It's a solid game. Maybe some day the others will get translated.
>>382986959
"unique jrpg" is an oxymoron, all is eventually recycled. Although I do agree that settings like in IV can be stumbled upon way less than usual, gameplay in that game is nothing special. As for V, it is not even being regarded as a BoF game, rather as a spin-off. As a polar opposite of IV, it's setting is rather a generic post-apocalyptic anti-utopia, but gameplay is interesting as much as frustrating to a new player.
