Left:
Confident motherfucker ready to take on the world. Posed eagerly with sword drawn. Sun is at a twilight peak, implying the adventure is long and will last many days. Reminiscent of the Zelda 1 artwork of Link looking across the overworld.

Right:
Link looks bored and confused. He doesn't seem to care at all about his environment, and seems to be very casual and clueless. This is further indicated by how he is looking towards the audience/artist as if he needs help or advice. The background looks way too foggy and saturated, which would be a bad representation of the game.

Agreed. The franchise title would have been the superior choice to have in English, as the English version is far bigger and embroidered with extra detail and design.

Conclusion: North America is the best one. Eat it.

American one isn't just shifted up, it's cropped and enlarged. Link is the main and dominating subject, aka focus on muh hero protag.

Japanese one has Link almost diminutive against the back drop of the Wild. He is a hero, yes, but even then humble and insignificant against the forces of nature and the vastness of the world.

Individual bravado vs Zen meditation of the world. Extrovertion and self-centrism vs stoic humility and awareness of one's place in the world.

Japan wins no questions asked.
