Combat is a part of the gameplay but gameplay isn't just combat, unless that's all the game is. People just miss speak, I think people mostly know the difference.

Motherfuckers that say old turn based games or games with dice-roll based combat have shit gameplay, bothers me a lot. They tend to have a narrow minded view of good gameplay that's restricted to twitchy, real-time action games.
