the spambot is because of idiot avatarfag drama. one of them made a bot to ruin every thread because someone made fun of them. This is made worse because people think they're being clever by imitating the bot spam.

xpac dropped about 2 years back, raids were added and we have been getting an awesome season 3 of living world.
Not too much has changed drastically but IMO the game is in the best spot it's been in since launch
