One of the best experiences I've had in gaming was getting my shit pushed in by Capra Demon for a good hour on my first play through, and then killing him wearing no armor in one try on my second playthrough. You really do just have to get good at dodge through his first assault. Then just run up the stairs, let him fall, then just attack him while falling.

Never level resistance, you literally don't need it ever. Str/dex, vit, and end for melee builds.

It honestly depends on the build. Capra was fucking awful when I made a Sorcerer and prioritized INT but I had zero issues with my Knight or Hunter. Likewise I had zero issues with Curse until I made a Hunter whose starting armor has like no fucking Curse resistance so I got afflicted with it instantly.

I think magic makes the game completely unfun. I firmly believe the game was mostly built around/meant for a melee focused build. But, maybe you'll like just point and clicking things to death. I'd at least go spellsword if you wanna do magic.

yeah, in DS1 a good STR build would use

STR, STAM, HP, and a little Dex in case the weapon you want has a requirement for it.

Remember, you only need half the STR requirement to wield a weapon in both hands. You will still need all of the Dex req though.
