Playing the free trial, it's actually kind of sad this game got buried under OW's hype. It's not that bad--though the characters might be occasionally obnoxious. It's a fun mix of MOBA, FPS, and builder tower-defense (an especially rare genre in modern game design).

Way less polished than overwatch. Would be a worse game but loadouts, item buying, and biweekly updates make it not get boring after 3 weeks like Overwatch

A Lot of the playerbase actually comes from Overwatch.
While myself and many others actually have access to that "premium product" they chose Paladins over it

TF2 is buggy and unoptimized shit with most community servers being dead as well as most casual matches being dead unless it's 2fort. I know this because I still bring myself to play it from time to time.

My biggest problem with modern tF2 is how Valve butchered almost every sort of mod support with their servers. Can't even have fun mods anymore because muh wall hackers. Meanwhile aimbotters still frequently ruin matches on any server.

Paladins looks better than current TF2, I honestly think you should go back to that game and actually look at it again. TF2 used to look really good if you modded it hard enough, but they removed so many settings and support for mods that it's just a mess of clipping hats that don't animate properly.

As for TF2 and Paladins gameplay-wise, they're entirely different games, hence why I play them both. TF2 is class based and has more arena shooter elements/gameplay. Paladins is closer to a MOBA with its counterplay being more about what you buy in the base, and commitment to who you pick and team comp at the character select screen because of no swapping out mid-game.

Overwatch I'd say is comparable to TF2 due to it not having many MOBA elements compared to Paladins, and due to it being a class-based shooter where you swap out classes freely.

I really enjoyed the closed beta week. Though I did go into it knowing absolutely nothing about the game and expecting to uninstall it within an hour after starting it. So it might just be an okay game that exceeded my incredibly low expectations which lead to me think more of it, but right now I want to play it some more and I'm hoping that they announce another beta test soon. Nexon has me worried too, but I'm gonna try to get as much out of the as I can before they might fuck it up.
