Why are game designers obsessed with drawn-out, overanimated stealth takedowns? They're in almost every game now.
>>
>>382927996
Because muh acting.
Vidyas is serioux business.
We're so much mature now.
>>
>>382927996
If anything, that's hitman
>>
>>382927996
Gotta justify that motion capture equipment somehow
>>
>>382928143
This anon's correct. Sometime around the mainstreaming of video games (Halo, CoD, GTA) the industry decided it had to become as stupid and hollow as Hollywood.
>>
>>382928527
Addendum: Some video game companies tried to resist the blockbusterization of games by slavishly aping novels (think Pillars of Eternity) but without any of the charm or value of an actual book. The opposite of a bad thing is often a thing equally bad in the opposite way.
>>
>>382927996
Normies eat that shit up.
>>
>sneak up and punch someone so hard that spit flies out of their mouth and they groan very loudly before being 'knocked out' aka hemorrhaging blood and permanent brain damage
>a silent takedown
>game calls you merciful for doing this
>>
>>382929253
>Ex-military security guard
>Spiked hair
>Bitchy, sarcastic attitude
>High fashion jacket

>the takedown is a cutscene separated from gameplay by a black screen
Fucking garbage. The animators need to stop stroking their dicks.

You haven't lived life to the fullest if you haven't watched one of Xev Bellringer's mom son fetish videos.
>>
>>382927996
You don't like watching 10 second kill animations where the target screams at the top of their lungs and the sound of every bone in their body breaking echoes through the halls?

Psh, it's like you're not into stealth at all.
>>
>>382929253
If punching blacks hard enough to cause permanent brain damage doesn't appeal to you, you should go play Pokemons.
>>
>>382927996
>xev video
>another person is present

is this real?
>>
>>382929457
He was a cop, not a soldier.

Also he's a 90s babby.
>>
>>382932870
Rarely, but yes.
>>
>>382929253
Would've been better if:
>The animations were in first person
>The animations didn't interrupt the game but continued in real-time
>The non-lethal takedowns took longer to perform
>The lethal takedowns were the silent option
>>
>>382927996
>that manjaw
Is that a dude?

That's a trap, isn't it?

No. It's a girl (female).

It's a balancing thing. In Hitman 2016, bare-handed "silent" takesowns actually make a bit of noise so nearby NPCs can respond rather than looking like complete dimwits. Speaking as a level designer, I would actually prefer even longer bare-handed takedowns to reward picking up tools for the job, and to discourage the player from simply taking out every guard in a tricky room one by one which is usually a viable, but boring, approach to suit-only gameplay.
>>
>>382929253
>Non Lethal Takedown is silent
>Equally violent Lethal Takedown makes a shit ton of noise
>Non Lethal is considered the more "difficult" option

Looking at you too Metal Gear Solid 2

If that was real Chlorophorm she'd be dead by now. Despite what you see in movies, people can actually die from breathing in too much Chlorophorm very easily within a short period of time.
>>
>>382934276
How long should you hold it up to their face though. Asking for a friend.
>>
Do you know how long it actually takes to take someone out?
>>
>>382927996
Isnt it odd that there are no more thief style games? Even deus ex is dead. Action titles are now bundled with stealth titles. AAA devs are basically selling big empty worlds with generic coding for any and every genre. Dishonored is even guilty of that.
>>
>>382934905
Do you know what fun and fluid gameplay is?

I like them in Titanfall 2, fast games go well with slomo violence breaks.
>>
>>382934657

You shouldn't. At all. Because in most cases someone will punch you in the face before they even breathe in enough to get KO'd. It's actually kind of difficult to KO someone using Chloroform alone and it's not an instant effect. So really you'd end up accidentally killing them.
>>
>>382934060
I think metal gear really is at fault for popularizing it yeah. It was inevitable though.

is everyone here some sort of retard ? to put them in the "gameplay" trailer, that's literally the only fucking reason.

Literally the reason. Everybody does it so you better do it as well

It's just a trend. We had linear FPSs, then linear cover-based TPSs, and now we have 'open world' (bare as fuck) first-person outpost liberating simulators. It'll pass eventually.
