Well I don't really expect you to believe me but I played a lot of Quake when I was young and I got global elite in CSGO. Also was in top 1% in Overwatch in season 1 but I got bored of that game really quick because it was such a simple game.

I think the game has a lot of interesting macro decisions. I compare it to poker because sure the most skilled player may not win sometimes and the lowest skilled player might win because they got 1 kill at the end by hiding in the bush and the circle rng blessed them. There are two effective strats for not getting fucked by campers.
1. Find yourself a house and hope the zone stays on you for a fuck ass long time.
2. Always move along the blue line, so that the likelyhood of people coming at you from behind is lower.

When push comes to shove, positioning is the end all and be all of the last few gunfights. If the zone fucks you over, there isn't much you can do if the enemy is half confident.

I'm 100% the reasons why people are mad at this game are as follows
1. Not on console (yet)

eh, that doesnt include camping though. I just bought this game like 4 hours ago and i've gotten to number ~5 so far multiple times by just sneaking around. Not camping, never sat anywhere longer than a few minutes. I just enjoy being stealthy. My last game I was number 3 and someone saw me crawling around and sniped me. I'm not going to write out entirely what I want but here's just the first two. So first thing's first. I don't care if you can run it. The game is optimized like shit. Even after the patch. I think the game utilizes more of the CPU than anything so that would probably have to explain the stuttering. Secondly, I'd like some movement options. The standard run of the mill walk, run, prone, climb a ladder, and drive is just so traditionally conservative in this day and age that I have to wonder what is bringing people back. Given the scale of the map, I'd sure like some of the shit I saw in Phantom Pain, such as rolling on the side or sliding down off curved ledges. Wouldn't hurt to add to the climbing mechanic if you're gonna have vaulting. I don't see why you have to have so little options when it comes to moving. I'm not asking for a grappling hook, I just want some interesting options here. Its actually pretty neat you can speed up while you're crouching. I always appreciate that kind of stuff.

That's it for now. I've played plenty enough TPS games with movement options that playing PUBG feels like a chore. I don't care if I don't respawn. I can just play Counter-Strike for that same thrill. I don't care if the arena gets smaller, I can play Battlerite for that. After playing Vanquish, Titanfall 2, and other fast games, its just too damn much for me to play PUBG seriously. Its even harder when people parade it as GOTY when it clearly isn't. I don't care if you're playing it three months in. It doesn't do anything new. It doesn't even have original content. Its boring.

Because of muh individuality tacticool FPS wankery. People don't like getting straight outskilled so they pull out terms like positioning, audio, camoflauge, tactical camping because shuffling around a series of houses for 3 minutes because you heard a noise and the other guy heard a noise, and now you're crouch walking around a house abusing the third person camera until one of you spots the other. Then they get a <1 second TTK and go wow my adrenaline xd because its super tense right before they get popped off by a guy who's been camping in a house in the center of the blue zone who's probably watching netflix while having one earphone to listen to doors opening.

Really the only reason the game had such a boom in popularity is because H1z1 shit the bed and everybody loves customization. Attachments, body armor, less cars, no bleeding. It's a straightforward pew pew game, without the ball dripping stress of ranked play without a huge wall to get over to get into it. You play, you die in 3 minutes punching a dude or you get top 20 and most people feel "good" about the gold star of you tried.
