Before we get started, I'm going to throw some critique out there so you don't think this is a shill thread. The backtracking can be annoying, NPCs you need to visit a lot are too far from fast travel points with annoying enemies you've fought a million times between them. The art style is a little dull, too much blue save for a few areas. The game has some pacing issues, it takes too long to get going from the start, they should have given you some abilities faster instead of scattering them around so much perhaps.
Now with that out of the way, I'm really liking the game, I'm making my way to the final dreamer now. How hard is it to get the good ending? Do I have to 100% absolutely everything, or just upgrade the nail all the way? Also, something about White Palace? Trying to decide if I want to get the good ending now or just beat the game and tackle that down the road. There are three endings too, aren't there? Is doing three dreamers and then fighting the final boss the bad end?

Yeah, that's the trouble with this. I've never discussed video games anywhere besides /v/ for the past ten years, after too much dickwaving at Facepunch over post counts. But we're just not allowed to discuss this particular game at all here. Thought I'd give it another shot since I just started playing it, but I'm too late to the party I guess. It got Undertale'd and I can't really blame it for both the overpraising of the game and the false flagging it's received.

OP here. I will admit that I think it happens with some games, like Night in the Woods. I don't think it happened with HK since we have a history of liking Metroidvanias, but NITW seemed fishy to have non-stop threads here, and then the dev saying "tfw people like your game" on Twitter, though I think "tfw" is basically a Facebook meme by now anyway.

The critique about backtracking is not specific to this game but rather the metroidvania genre. But the dream nail upgrade in the next free DLC will fix that. Also I agree that it has pacing issues. The beginning can be boring to some people.

Not that guy, OP here. I honestly genuinely just wanted to attempt a thread. I purposely threw the criticisms in to try to deter it, but there's just no way at all to discuss this game I guess. Maybe I baited it by accident. It doesn't matter, the game is a fucking whirlwind of people shilling, counter-shilling, false-flagging. Doing the dreamers and then killing the boss is the bad end. For the better ending you need to explore an area that's well-hidden. You don't need 100% completion.

It's a little overdone in some areas. I know it's a Metroidvania, but some stuff is too out of the way. Here's an NPC you visit a ton, you have to backtrack through annoying enemies and zig zag platform in a lot of areas just to visit him. I redlined my issue, two routes to the closest fast travel point. I would have put him closer to one.
SOTN had one far away too, but then it also had an item you could find that let you teleport there.

When the game first released there were constant threads about it. After everyone played it you didn't see many threads, just the occasional. The last week has seen a shitload of threads pop up. Best part of prime 1 for me was taking a mental note of all the little secrets I didn't have the right upgrade to access. That made the backtracking almost as exciting as the progression for me.

Yeah, but here's another critique. That Metroid ripoff boss was too easy. It seemed like I was going to have a cool fight because I thought that was just the first phase. But nope, boss was a total pushover with easily evaded attacks and it's one of three bosses that leads to the ending. The powerup bosses were a lot harder.
