It's deceiving in some aspects but still is the best game in the genre so far.

Mike and Sam cannot die until the finale in the house. Even when Mike is fighting off the Wendigos in the asylum you can fail every QTE and he survives.

Biggest changes are:
- Matt can die on the cliff if you attack the deer
- Matt can die if you attempt to save Emily twice and do not have the flare gun (or fail the QTE with the flare gun)
- Shooting Ashley in the second trap locks Chris into a death scene later on that you cannot avoid
- Shoot Emily or spare her (obvious)
- Emily can die in her chase scene from the Wendigo
- Ashley can die if you choose to investigate the noise and the trap door
- Josh will be killed by his sister or turn into a Wendigo, depending on if you discovered the diary
Obviously any character can die in the finale.

Playing as/slowly rooting for the total chad was arguably the best part of the game. especially since almost everyone i saw started the game hating him.

It really had some excellent horror moments that weren't just jump scares. At what moment did you guys realise this game was kino? For me it was after Mike finds the army jacket and I realised the devs must have loved Silent Hill 2. The visuals were just incredible throughout.

Played a couple of hours of this last night. Maybe I don't play enough movie games but goddamn, I don't see how anyone finds this any fun to play and the characters are mostly unlikable pricks. I might stick it out for a playthrough but this is definitely not something I'd spend money on. Also, the camera angles are aggravating because of the normal analog movement. I'm having to unlearn my Resident Evil experience here and it's weird to say that I actually miss tank controls while playing this.

I did like how everyone but the overly bland Sam had likable traits but could easily be seen as cunts depending of the personality of the player. The only exception is the opening sequence where they pull a mean-spirited "prank" that comes off as completely contrived when you actually get to know their characters.

Chris puts his life on the line to save a guy who put him through major mental trauma, Mike exudes pure heroism all the way through the game, and even henpecked-Matt nuts up and saves Jess. Jess also turns out to be a sweetheart when you take the time to know her. Only Em's sympathetic traits as an insecure co-dependent type make sense with the actions the group takes in the opening scene.
