Mimigas are just a species on that floating island the game takes place on. Sue came to the island with her mom, brother, and three other scientists. One of the scientists turned evil and wants to use red flowers to turn Mimigas into monsters so he can basically take over the world using them as a weapon. Sue, along with one of the other scientists, was a human that was cursed by the witch Misery, turning them into Mimigas. So there are only two that are actually humans, the rest were born on that island and are an actual species.
