Just played through it tonight with the Better SADX mod, and pretty much this. Sure it's janky at times but as long as you're not actively trying to break it for the sake of confirming your precious "le sanic is shit xDD" maymay then it works well enough all around. It's a 6/10 at worst. You faggots always overblow everything.

06 was the only sonic game I think is shit. That game was so bad. I never played heroes, but I agree with you that everyone blows this shit way out of proportion. The 3D games are decent Sonic games and people need to get over nostalgia games change get the fuck over it

When I first played the game it was just a demo at Emerald Coast. Then when I finally visited my cousin's house to play the full game, I just remember how fucking jarring everything was in contrast to the games and TV series. Overall I was pretty disappointed. The fact I had a big hub to run around in was great and I spent hours just messing around, but in terms of story and setting it's not what I wanted out of Sonic.

You're entitled to your opinion for sure but my beef with Sonic Heroes is that, aside from the myriad of gameplay and technical issues - which are too many to list (but that's the case for most 3D Sonic's) - the game feels like the first truly cookie cutter Sonic game.

In terms of visuals, world-building (or lack thereof), music and every other aspect, it seems like they threw a bunch of elements together that were from both classic and adventure eras alongside new stuff without ever bothering to work out what made these things good in the first place. It's got elements of classic visual style but with more garish menus and none of the pop-art/memphis style, it's got every character jam-packed in there just to cover all bases, even Metal Sonic was brought back but then warped into an edgy monster of the week to be more in line with Adventurefags. They tried to combine the multiple campaigns of SA1/SA2 with the "alt character" style of S3K, except they made the """story""" boring and the stages lacked meaningful character-exclusive routes, making it the worst of both worlds.

Almost every aspect of the game, except for the flawed team mechanic itself, feels like some weird hybrid of Classic and Adventure, which theoretically should be an amazing thing but came off as them throwing every ingredient and spice in the kitchen into a pot and hoping it came out as a gourmet meal.

Design-wise, that's my issue with Heroes, but that's just the shit icing on the shit cake. When it comes down to it, I just didn't find the game itself to be very fun.

Gamma was true kino because it dealt with one of the darker elements of Sonic that had been around since the beginning (roboticizing animals) and Gamma being a robot meant he had very little dialog which didn't need to be very emotive to get its message across

I've never found this to be the case personally and I'm pretty sure the math that was used to come to this conclusion is wrong, but even if this were true it's fixed by the Taxman versions so it's a non-issue if you're playing the superior re-releases of the games

-Windy Valley is half auto running segments and at least a quarter following semi-linear paths with guard-rails on them
-Casinopolis is shit, as you said.
-Ice Cap slows the platforming to crawl with the cave area, then gives you a snowboard area that's impossible to die in unless you clip through the floor
-Sky Deck is probably the worst designs level in the entire series.
-Lost world is half-good, half-shit.

Twinkle Park, Speed Highway, Red Mountain, and Final Egg are all okay stages though.
