I'm an admitted consolefag, and although these tricks are really entertaining, the save-scumming makes this so uninteresting to watch. Like I watched brothers and sure the run was pretentious, but atleast if he didn't get anything on the first try he'd keep trying instead of just pressing the hot key.

Why are so many of these speedrunners not truly speedrunning? I thought the point of this was to see some of the besets do what they are best at? All this has been is subpar speedrunners repeatedly fucking up and then saying "This trick is really hard so I'm not gonna do it", even though the point of this stream is to see the good shit. No one even looks like they are having fun most of the time. The best runs are also the ones we most likely won't see again since, fun is bad.

You can tell immediately which runners are actually passionate about the games they run, and the ones that aren't. The ones that adore the game are the ones that can hardly stop talking about it, though there are exceptions to this, like with Stiv and Banjo-Kazooie, but he's just focused.
At GDQ, the couch is usually what determines the quality of the run, which is why the Kingdom Hearts runs tend to be pretty enjoyable, because there's constant talking, and Spike's always there to liven things up.
