The devs said this one is centered around hate, so you might be right. Maybe so new faction takes out Joel and Ellie goes on a hate fueled rampage to kill them.

This was obviously a red herring to stir up commotion and publicity. The game will still mainly be from Joel's perspective. The multiplayer is being revamped to have a battle royal aka PUBG model. It will be more HUB then linear, like UC4 andere RotTR.
