I just came back from a break and I'm enjoying it. I wanted to wait for the Pyro update but Valve is taking their fucking time (what a surprise) so I cracked. kinda bummed about the bonk and atomizer nerfs though.

not really. I've spent a lot of time in the game and dealt with the community and still had fun

The fact that it can still be fun to play and chill out on almost 10 years later is a testament to it's strong fundamental design, despite all the cracks and ugly cosmetics.
