I pirated this game when it came out, decided to purchase it this sale. I don't remember it being so fucking clunky control wise.

Don't buy any upgrades unless it's mandatory for a story event, they make the game way too easy.

Without upgrades you legitimately have to plan out your assassination for tougher Chiefs, otherwise you can just waltz into an enemy stronghold and wipe everyone out without whatever broken-ass upgrades you got.

The game is amazing if you get immersed into it. Many people don't. But fact of the matter is that this is a game where ludonarrative dissonance is low, and if your PC is any gud you're treated to some of the best GFX in 2014 which both help a lot.

Being able to dominate captains made it far too simplistic, same with being able to just interrupt every event and make your dominated orcs win. You should have only been able to dominate basic rank and file orcs, and if you ever got detected while intervening in an event your dominated orc should get found out and blacklisted as a pink-skin lover.

Its a random thing. If you kill a captain without beheading or killing them after interrogating/branding them they have a chance to come back at some point. Some also have a ridiculous trait which makes them come back from the dead 99% of the time.

im pretty sure its been improved in shadow of war and from the trailors they tried to make the game as a whole more strategy based but the combat looks the exact same.

I just beat the game yesterday. Not amazing but worth 4 dollars. Question is do orcs respawn or are their endless waves or can you legit clear out a stronghold of orcs completely?

Also I know the combat is easy mode but it still gives me trouble. I'll stun an orc and try to do that quick slash attack that pops their heads but since there are always groups the attack is always interrupted. It just gets annoying fighting massive hordes

It's not very common, but if one does it you can keep running into him a lot in a short time. Only way to stop it is to remove their head. In my case I ended up stealth killing the one that kept coming back so his head never went pop.

the collectibles do literally nothing. I dont even understand the weapon challenge rewards. Some random writing pops up that you cant even see. so pointless

I hate the lore rape and wish this was just some generic fantasy setting, not Middle Earth.

That said, I can't help but like the game. Some people will hate it just for the Bam Ham combat, but it's done really well, better than the Arkham games I think. If you find that kind of combat enjoyable then it's a no brainer.
