Have they always existed?
Why are they so common nowadays?
were you not around for the 2006 wii launch? scalpers bought up every Wii stock they could and resold them on ebay for 2-3x the price.
>Why do people want to make money by buying things cheap and selling them at a higher price
Shit how about you graduate from middle school

>Have they always existed?
Yes, before the Internet even.
>>382803867
Yes.
Buy low, sell high.
When demand is obvious, obtain as much supply as possible to secure profit.
If prostitution is the worlds oldest profession then finance and accounting are the worlds 2nd and 3rd oldest, respectfully.

Has Nintendo been trying to do anything about this?
Their products are selling, but not to people that use them.
>>382804009
about 20$/unit is not worth
Yes they have, that's why the term Scalper is not a new word.
Because Nintendo still think a few hundred is enough for everybody.
>>382804009
Do people literally not have any shame?
>>382804112
it doesn't matter to nintendo, a bought console is a win for them.
>>382804065
Pretty much this. In my area a long time ago when the SNES first came out, some fat fucking troll bought every single SNES in the area, and had an ad already taken out in the newspaper eating up 1/3rd of the page saying he was selling them at an address for almost $450 each. If I recall, very few people bought them from him because they knew they could just wait.
>>382804201
What's shameful about it?
>Limit 2 per person instead of stupid numbers like 5-6
>Scalpers lose twice their weight
>?????
>Everyone wins.
>>382803867
What's funny is that they always have a ton of them sitting around in these photos, not being sold
>>382804202
>is a win for them
No. No it's not. They lose money on consoles. They need the purchased consoles to be used and software to be bought, not to sit in some guy's apartment unsold for months.
>>382804476
>make multiple accounts to buy online
>go to the store with multiple people
Not hard
>>382803867
Yes.
Scalping is literally pre-human behavior.
Other apes and monkeys will hoard resources sometimes and exchange them for favors, like sex.
It's more common today, and will continue to become even more common, because of economic inequality growing in the developed world.
Because wages are stagnant and debt is rising quickly and the options for decent paying work are shrinking, more and more people are turning to shady methods of making money, like scalping. This is why more girls are camming and streaming as well.
This is also why BLM is a thing. The poor always get squeezed hardest in tough economic times so they're lashing out and the first line of contact between the poor and the State are the police.
Students are acting out over their future prospects and they're hitting the universities.
This is why we have new protests every month. It all comes down to more and more people in the lower and middle classes feeling increasingly crushed by the current state of the economy. So expect more unrest and more violence and, if the powers that be don't shape up, more upheaval. History is clear on this: If things keep going the way they are, there will be a violent revolution within 20 years.

They don't take very long to sell at all actually. I've sold 10 NES mini's and it only took 2 weeks.
>>382804686
Metal.
>>382804201
The ones who should feel shame are the nintentards buying it from them at x2-3 the price because they can't wait a while.
>>382803867
>Why are they so common nowadays?
More poor and lazy people.
>>382804201
No when it comes to money.
>>382804616
they still make a profit by selling the actual console.
Scalpers wouldn't exist if Nintendo had the production and infrastructure to match the demand (which they should)
