Rock and a hard place. They launch the game "late" and next to Destiny and hundreds of millions in advertising and they might just end up Titanfalled. Nobody expected Titanfall 2 to flip as it did, and this is one of the reasons Andromeda had to launch "early", it launched within the last fiscal year and EA has to report to its shareholders. Kiketaku even reported on how many "scrapped" planets there were. Those "scrapped" locations are for DLC. The DLC is to be launched with a rebranding of the game. This plan was hatched in early 2017 around the time the "open beta" of Andromeda was cancelled.

They did this with Mass Effect 3 and the Extended Cut.

They did that in less time but this was planned and optimized a little bit better than that was, all things considered.

For example, this game has a last boss battle, whereas Bioware was unable to add back in the Illusive man bossfight to ME3 (despite it being finished) because it would diminish the release version and "prove" the people who said the game was flawed or crippled right. From a corporate perspective the final boss fight had to stay OUT of the game. As you may know, Illusive Man Fight was cut because of cross platform issues 48 hours before ME3 went Gold, because EA would not allow a delay. That situation was entirely, from top to bottom, the fault of EA, and Andromeda was given a lot of breathing room because of it. It still is.

Andromeda however has a DLC cycle coming and everything that is added will be considered "for the fans" and a bonus rather than something added that should have been there to begin with or something that was stripped from the game, like in ME3 with the ending being circumcised like it was.

On top of the lackluster plot, MMO quests up the ass to prolong gameplay, 3 fucking active abilities available at a time, removed party member customization, quests that have me run the width and breath of the galaxy, the reduced dialogue choices ... just strip it down to a 90 minute CGI movie and sell it for 5 bucks. This didn't even need to be a game.

Not without having to vent heat buildup and static discharge into nebula or planetary atmosphere. Species using conventional FTL could do those things while traveling around within the galaxy because of the abundance of those things. In dark space you can't. ODSY just conveniently ignores those limitations. The absence of its mention in ME3 (and the Andromeda Initiative as a whole in ME2 and ME3) makes it really stand out as lore-rape. Just being able to leave the galaxy, running from your problems, is entirely thematically contrary to the OT.
