The Zodiac Tournament is really good if you're into old kung-fu / Bruce Lee films, Nightmare in North Point isn't too bad either, it gives a lot of the characters from the main story more screen time and is fun to mess around in. Overall, they're not 10/10 material - but I'd definitely recommend giving them a try if you can get them cheaply or for free.

Drifting wasn't done right. You either had to kill all your speed to make a tight turn or crash into walls. It felt very stilted.

I remember a mission in the game where I was in a motorcycle and I was in the freeway dodging traffic and getting shot at. That was cool as fuck, it reminded me of the matrix reloaded.

Inspector Teng was the best girl. Super sad there was no on the lowdown date with her.

GTA V is more immersive and has a beautifully designed open world and has a very active multiplayer, but i find sleeping dogs to be a bigger burst of fun in a shorter amount of time if that makes sense

Here you actually got rewarded for being a good lad and not just go nuts at all times except against those who deserved it. It's GTA style game with a lot of good characters in an exciting plot.
It focuses more on kung-fu melee combat than shooting. The shooting mechanics are mostly you doing freak leaps over tables and shit and blowing people away in the slow mo shooting while doing that grants, killing another person grants more slowmo, once you get good you can clear entire rooms of enemies after you jump over one table and keep stringing the kills together. Driving is unrealistic, drifty and with a bash attack, lot of fun in general.
Atmosphere is a 10/10.
It's also a bit more serious than your average GTA in my opinion, it's definitely got goofy stuff like the ever evolving story of your shitty neighbors in the first apartment you get, but I feel like it bleeds over into the main plot less than GTA.

Its just all around a really fun game.

TC 1 is incredibly underrated. The shooting mechanics were miles ahead of GTA at the time, the story was fun and had multiple endings plus branching missions so you could fail and the game would carry on in a different direction. I think they didn't need her and Wei's handler, Raymond to be two different characters.

Which is a hard choice because I like both characters and their dynamic with Wei, but both aren't used enough. Raymond exclusively appears in cutscenes and Inspector Teng exclusively appears for gameplay relevant stuff like the cop quests. It feels like they took the scheduled appearances for one police character in the story and split it into two characters a little.
