The 1st year line up of the Switch murders the Wii U's entire lineup (or matches it at least)

I'm doing the same, but WiiU is still in it's early phase. I've bought many games for PS2, PS3, Xbox and GC for small change, and I'm still hunting for some Wii games for reasonable price.

Yeah mario kart deluxe is fun and active, I just played it yesterday. The 6 types of battle mode is fun too. You can also play as inklings if you are into that.
