Uh, Quake is a fun FPS game. Those blobs in Episode 4 can get fucked though. Actually, Episode 4 as a whole can get fucked. Ugly level design, stupid enemies, obtuse puzzles.

Well Quake does have jumping and completely 3D everything. It's a natural graphical and gameplay step-up from Doom, even though GZDoom allows the engine to do whatever the fuck it wants at this point.

GZDoom can do some pretty impressive map stuff, but just how many mods can utilize a lot of those features those limit-removing ports don't have without feeling like a tech demo? Golden Souls was interesting, but I thought the gunplay was ass.

Doom's levels start out great, but they get really maze-like later on and that shit annoys me honestly. Quake's level stay consistently complex, but not too complex so you're almost always fighting at a good pace and exploration doesn't really require a map.

Doom's enemies are only better when you're fighting a big ass group of them, but Quake's are more interesting to fight in a 1 on 1. Nothing in Doom is really as intimidating as Shamblers to me.
