GG Xrd and R story modes had no gameplay and was 95% still models with only mouths flapping like a bad flash animation
Didn't even bother with Tekken's story since they don't force you to play it for credits to unlock characters (thank god)
Blazblue is mostly just still images recycled since the first few games besides the constantly updated Noel and tells the worst story out of the bunch

Only NRS can make a decent story mode and they even fucked up with MKX.

He treats others like crap and his X-Men embargo is 100 percent done in spite (the MCU focus is a cover, he doesn't even have authority over the films because Disney kicked him out after Feige complained about him).
He's been having an embargo on X-Men and Fantastic Four for the past few years in games, cartoons, and merchandise.
Fox only owns the film rights and Perlmutter doesn't want to promote their films

Okay, this X-Men embargo has been wearing off since they just showed up in a mobile game, are appearing in Marvel Heroes Omega, and gotten little merchandise recently.
They're probably planned DLC right now and when they're announced Capcom pretends that it was their way of listening to fans when in reality they were DLC from the start.

Marvel can license anything they want relating to the Fantastic Four and X-Men, Fox and Sony only have the rights to license things based upon their movies.

You could point to Tekken or Soul Calibur as well. But let's not ignore the other shoe here. Comic crossovers especially across continuities always presume to have a huge overarching plot. It's always felt strange to me there was barely lipservice to that in Marvel Vs Capcom. Since instead of being a tournament; the premise is putting together a superhero team.

They might be biting more off than they can chew since; Capcom has yet to satisfactorily produce a story involving Sigma; but it's better than the endboss just being Thanos or Chakravartin.

SFV was a game geared entirely toward online play, with servers that were down constantly upon release. The lack of single player content was absurdly noticeable, and then when people got online they realized the game is boring.

MvCI should have a story mode and arcade mode on day one, because we know those servers are fucked. Sadly, Capcom apparently is delivering a really boring looking story mode so far, and I don't know if the arcade endings will even be as fun as MvC3's 2-3 images with text.
