They added all the perks, there's new zeds and zed behaviors, two bosses (3rd on the way), more maps, versus mode, etc. Plus they're doing the seasonal events again, and the entire game has much better production value.

Yea there's loot drops and crates, but it's only cosmetic items.

The only reason to play KF1 at this point is if you're the type that hates change of any kind.

It's in a pretty decent state now. It's more fast paced than the first so that will be a bad or good thing for you. A lot of the charm that came from the voice acting is still gone as well.

I believe KF2's early access was a huge mistake for this reason.
These days people move on pretty quickly if a game doesn't hold their interest. While this would be fine for a single player game with no microtransactions, this isn't the case with KF2. They would have had much more financial success as well as a bigger community (who would spend money in the shop) had they released the game when it was actually finished.

Played the EA, and hated it. Bought it during the sale and have been enjoying it. It's basically a slight sci-fi version of KF1 with more satisfying combat. The cosmetic shit is pretty obnoxious though. Overall it's a good game now. Still missing some old characters though.

I don't know what they were thinking with skins. There's no reason for them to have different quality skins for weapons, the playerbase needs to be an order of magnitude bigger for that kind of dumb shit. It's been well over a year since they added microtransactions and I've still got a bad taste in my mouth.

I'm hoping they don't go overboard with out of place steampunk garbage in their game this time. I don't know what the obsession is with developers in recent years, but it's out of hand.

There's plenty of out-of-place cosmetics that don't really suit the characters, though thankfully I think they already got over their Steampunk phase and only ever did some gas masks for that. At the very least skins don't clog up the weapon list with duplicates and encourage some more core-looking stuff to exist, but what the fuck were they thinking with Medic weapons I would like to know because they're ugly toy guns, even skinners find them a pain in the dick apparently.

Agree with the steampunk. I really hated how the only bolt action rifle in 1 was covered in bronze spraypaint and made a dumb steam noise. It's like if the only Double Barrelled shotgun in the game was clown themed and made silly noises and shot confetti. I just want a classic DBS.

If prior experience in F2P games is anything to go by, I'm going to assume people who spend a fair bit on cosmetics would probably stick with what they have or incorporate one of the items into their sets while it's trendy, and those who spend little to nothing would likely commit to the entire set even if it's just because it's not the default.

Thankfully the black ski mask is a common drop, it goes well with a variety of things.

Suicidal on Medic is amazing fun.
